Reports to: Travel Center General Manager Salary Range: $16.90-$18.00 per hour Benefits: N/A Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt Status: Part Time Location: Coarsegold, CA Posting Deadline: Always Accepting Applications

Job Summary

The Fuel Attendant is responsible for providing customers with assistance with the fuel pumps for their vehicles as needed and ensuring a smooth and efficient fueling experience. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment while providing a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Additionally, the Fuel Attendant will monitor fuel pumps, restock necessary supplies, and assist with minor maintenance tasks as needed.

Essential Duties

  • Customer Assistance & Fueling Support: Providing customers with any assistance with fuel pumps as needed. Assist customers with cleaning windows, providing information and current pricing on fuel options and ensure all fueling is performed safely and in compliance with policy.
  • Fuel Pump Monitoring: Monitoring fuel pumps for proper operation and promptly report all malfunctions or damage to management. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly to provide a seamless customer experience. Providing preventive measures to pump usage to alleviate improper usage and damage of pumps and hoses.
  • Fueling Area Cleanliness & Safety: Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the fueling area by removing debris and addressing spills immediately. Follow environmental and safety guidelines to minimize hazards.
  • Customer Service & Issue Resolution: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering inquiries, and assisting with fueling needs. Any complaints professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Restocking Supplies: Restock and maintain fuel station supplies such as windshield washer fluid, paper towels, receipt paper and garbage bags. Regularly check dispensers to ensure availability for customer use.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety regulations regarding fuel handling and hazardous materials to prevent accidents. Participate in regular safety training and adhere to emergency procedures. Cleanliness of fuel pumps areas and exterior of Fuel Station by keeping all garbage cans maintained, any debris on grounds, wiping down all screens and addressing dry spills of diesel or gasoline with maintenance department assistance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems (Candidate can be trained).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including light lifting.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid state-issued Driver's License.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test (non-cannabis substances).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the Tribe's Constitution, laws, and culture is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Organized with unfailing attention to detail and outstanding project management skills.
  • High level of comfort/ease interacting with all levels in the Tribe.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Must operate and maintain confidentiality.
