Position Summary

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking an experienced Embryologist to join a cutting-edge research laboratory in Coralville, Iowa. This role is responsible for utilizing advanced assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including porcine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), to support the production of gene-edited animal models for biomedical research.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embryology, reproductive biology, and hands-on SCNT experience. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative research while working in a collaborative, fast-paced laboratory environment focused on scientific excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform porcine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) procedures to support research objectives.
  • Contribute to improving SCNT efficiencies and developmental outcomes.
  • Optimize embryo culture systems and protocols.
  • Prepare, produce, and test embryo culture media.
  • Support embryo transfer planning, protocol development, and execution.
  • Assist with experimental planning and execution in collaboration with laboratory leadership.
  • Accurately document laboratory procedures, developmental data, and quality control metrics.
  • Maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures, quality standards, and established protocols.
  • Troubleshoot technical laboratory challenges and recommend process improvements.
  • Adapt to changing project priorities while meeting established timelines.
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of post-baccalaureate laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with one or more of the following would be ideal:
    • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
    • In vitro fertilization (IVF)
    • Cell culture
    • Embryo culture
    • Media formulation
    • Aseptic laboratory techniques
  • Strong laboratory documentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant life science discipline.
  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Experience supporting gene-edited animal production.
  • Experience with cloning.
