Quality Assurance Inspectors perform inspections, tests, checks, and sampling procedures of incoming products and components in the manufacture of aviation and ground fuel systems. They perform in-process inspections of component parts as well as the final inspection of products. They assist with various operations to ensure all the quality requirements are met to company and regulatory standards. Duties & Responsibilities Quality Assurance Inspector I:Perform incoming inspection on Commerical Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items, and verify certifications.Maintain certifications and records for all COTS items (scanning & filing).Read and interpret written documents such as drawings, work instructions, job aids, and forms as applicable to the respective logistics area.Begin training on the use of precision measuring tools and performing dimensional inspection on precision machined parts. · Maintain a clean and foreign object debris (FOD) free work area. · Demonstrate a proficient understanding and active use of commonly used documents, as applicable, with minimal to no direct assistance. · Adherence to Export Control and Technology Control Plan (TCP) as applicable to job function. · Adherence to Compliance Plan and Employee Policy ManualPlease note this job description is not designed to cover nor contain a static listing of activities, duties or responsibilities. Quality Assurance Inspector II (in addition to Level I): · Apply proper and required inspection techniques to obtain accurate measurements. · Demonstrate familiarity with and adhere to departmental procedures during audits. · Proficient in performing dimensional inspection on a variety of intricate and precision-machined parts using precision measuring tools. · Read drawings and have basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T). · Carry out duties with minimal direct supervision. · Perform AS9102 1st Article Inspection on all related products · Marginal duties may include the following: o Participate in lean/ continuous improvement initiatives and provide suggestions on areas of improvement. Quality Assurance Inspector III (in addition to Level II): · Coordinate advanced inspections with the main inspection department personnel as necessary to determine compliance. · Review and edit inspection process (es). · Conduct in process and final inspection on all assemblies for conformance to production documentation. · Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and utilizing GD&T for inspection purposes. · Conduct training sessions on procedures and processes that need remedial training. · Carry out duties with no direct supervision. · Assist department ATL with projects as required. · Advise manufacturing personnel of possible non-conformities during assembly build operations. · Use electrical measuring tools and gauges. · Conduct departmental audits to ensure the correct documentation is in use and that the certifications (calibrations) of all tooling and test equipment are current. · May provide on-the-job training and leadership to less experienced personnel as applicable. · May be required to operate and perform detailed part inspections on the CMM. Quality Assurance Inspector IV (in addition to Level III): · Develop Work Instructions and Procedures for Department related processes. · Oversee and/or manage departmental activities. · May be required to program, analyze, lay-out, and perform detail part inspections on the CMM. Quality Assurance Inspector V (in addition to Level IV): · Interface with and assist Engineering with items such as but not limited to: new product development, research and development/prototype projects, and manufacturing tooling development. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Education and Experience Quality Assurance Inspector I: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Quality Inspection, Production or Manufacturing role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Quality Assurance Inspector II: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Quality Inspection role combined with the demonstrated ability to perform level I and II tasks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Quality Assurance Inspector III: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in a Quality Inspection role combined with the demonstrated ability to perform level I, II, and III tasks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Quality Assurance Inspector IV: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a Quality Inspection role combined with the demonstrated ability to perform level I, II, III & IV tasks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Quality Assurance Inspector V: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in a Quality Inspection role combined with the demonstrated ability to perform level I, II, III & IV tasks; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The incumbent will regularly use hand tools including but not limited to wrenches, drills, screwdrivers, rulers, calipers and other precision measuring tools. The incumbent will occasionally use powered equipment including but not limited to computers, CMM, golf carts, forklifts, company vehicles, and assorted test equipment. Ability to drive a company vehicle per Employee Policy Manual E.7. Up to 30% domestic and/or international travel may be required for Quality Assurance Inspector levels lII, IV & V. Ability to pass required near vision and color test. Work Environment While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to dirty working conditions, heat or cold ranging between 70 and 80 degrees indoor ambient conditions, 50 to 110 degrees outdoor ambient conditions, vapors or fumes, and dust shavings. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The incumbent may be required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including Nitrile or Chloroprene gloves, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protection, dust mask and work gloves.
