Job description

(La Porte, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking 2nd Shift Manual Machinists

Essential Duties:

Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, horizontal boring mills (HBM), and vertical turret lathes (VTL)

Perform advanced 4-jaw chuck setups, indicating, and alignment of irregular and heavy components

Machine and refurbish turbine and rotating-equipment components including IGVs, diaphragms, rings, shafts, sleeves, and casings

Maintain tight machining tolerances (±0.001” or as specified) and verify accuracy through inspections

Read and interpret blueprints, repair drawings, and work instructions

Select proper tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods for each project

Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges

Safely handle large components using overhead cranes, lifts, and rigging equipment

Monitor production quality and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards

Assist in training junior machinists as needed

Requirements/Skills:

Minimum 5+ years of manual machining experience required

Minimum 5+ years of manual horizontal lathe experience required

Experience with HBM and VTL equipment; VTL experience preferred

Strong proficiency with 4-jaw chuck setups and precision alignment

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments

High integrity, safety-focused, and team-oriented mindset

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime and varying shifts (day and night)

Must supply basic personal hand tools

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods during shift operations

Capability to lift, move, and position heavy components with assistance

Ability to safely operate or work around heavy machinery and rigging equipment

Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery

Ability to perform repetitive motions and maintain precision over long durations
