What is the use of FTIR in pharma industry?

FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) is used in the pharmaceutical industry by analytical chemists to identify and verify the chemical composition of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. It helps ensure drug quality, detect impurities, and confirm the authenticity of compounds efficiently. Professionals working with FTIR often require knowledge of spectroscopy techniques and proper instrument calibration.

What is the highest paid science job?

In the field of science, petroleum engineers and pharmaceutical scientists tend to have the highest salaries, often exceeding $100,000 annually. Roles in data science, biochemistry, and medical research also offer high compensation, especially with advanced degrees and specialized skills.

What is the difference between Ftir vs XRF Technician?

AspectFtirXRF Technician
Required CredentialsAssociate degree or technical certification in spectroscopy or analytical chemistryAssociate degree or certification in X-ray fluorescence analysis
Work EnvironmentLaboratories, manufacturing plants, quality control labsIndustrial sites, laboratories, quality assurance departments
Industry UsageUsed across chemical, pharmaceutical, and materials industriesCommon in mining, metal, and environmental testing sectors

Ftir and XRF Technician roles share similar credentials and work environments, often within quality control labs. While FTIR focuses on infrared spectroscopy for chemical analysis, XRF technicians specialize in X-ray fluorescence for elemental analysis. Both are essential in industries requiring precise material identification, but they utilize different technologies suited to specific testing needs.

What jobs can I get with SLT?

SLT typically refers to Speech and Language Therapy, and with this qualification, you can work as a speech and language therapist in healthcare, education, or private practice settings. Roles involve assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders, often requiring relevant certifications and clinical experience.

What is the FTIR used mostly for?

FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) technicians primarily use FTIR to identify and analyze chemical compounds by measuring their infrared absorption spectra. This technique is widely used in quality control, material identification, and research laboratories to determine molecular structures and compositions.

Job description

Ready to build what's next?

Do you enjoy taking a blank page, reviewing the literature, and crafting a formulation that scales from bench to plant? Can you move between FTIR spectra, GCMS traces, and HPLC chromatograms as comfortably as you lead an MOC discussion? If so, this role is for you.

What you will do

Design and execute syntheses and analyses for routine and developmental products at the direction of the Technical Director, commercial team, and senior leadership (SLT).

Perform literature searches to inform and accelerate new product development within Polyventive's Technology Department.

Contribute both individually and on teams; create clear technical documentation.

Own scale-up: prepare lab-made products for pilot and full manufacturing, carrying responsibility from project start through plant scale-up while growing toward technical leadership.

Provide on-call technical and plant support; lead or participate in meetings for new product introductions and MOC's.

Maintain an organized, safe laboratory; set the standard for housekeeping and compliance.

Direct and mentor R&D and QC technicians as needed.

What you'll need to succeed

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/training.

3+ years' experience in surfactant and polymer synthesis/formulation/structure-activity relationships spanning at least two sectors: textiles, HI&I, O&G, adhesives, or coatings.

3+ years with FTIR, GCMS, HPLC.

Excellent computer proficiency and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
