Job description

Insight FS is headquartered in Jefferson, Wisconsin with 23 branches across the state and upper peninsula of Michigan. Insight FS has 430+ employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 50,000 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, agri-finance, precision agriculture, nutrient management, energy, feed, grain, and turf. Insight FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Coordinates all aspects of daily grain operations in conjunction with Location Manager and Grain Operations & Marketing Manager. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide grain quality control including, but not limited to, monthly temperature readings, fan maintenance and utilization, inbound/outbound grain rotation, account for < 5% shrink/FM outbound, average 14.7 on outbound moisture, and < 1% on outbound dockage.

Coordinate with Location Manager on grain labor needs. 

Works together with the Location Manager in managing budgeted expenses, payroll, and overtime costs.

Supervise grain department employees (potentially).

Operate and troubleshoot all grain related software for internal and external customers.

Inspects, maintains, and performs PMI on all grain equipment for safe and efficient operation.

Collects grain samples and weigh incoming and outgoing grain shipments.

Responsible for on-site grain inventory per bin and condition of grain.

Assist customers with loading and unloading of grain. 

Conduct grain safety training including coordination and execution.  This will include annual graining training, training on hot work permits and confined spaces.

Ensures subordinate company employees follow all company safety practices and procedures.

Keep facility maintained to meet insurance and OSHA requirements. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

May be required to perform operational duties such as CDL Delivery, Dry and Liquid Fertilizer mix and load.

May be required to serve on the location Safety Committee.

Communicates professionally and provides optimal customer service.

Utilizes technology and Microsoft Office programs to enhance business processes.

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and 2-3 years of related work experience to demonstrate the ability to provide daily leadership to all production personnel, problem-solving skills, time-management and planning skills.

Understanding and experience with production scheduling, inventory management, equipment maintenance, operation records, and expense control.

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Continuously exposed or required to: 

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Confined spaces
  • Lift 51-70 lbs.
  • Required to push heavy objects
