Job description

Indianapolis Fruit, A FreshEdge LLC company, is hiring CDL A Local Reefer Drivers in Indianapolis, IN. Drivers will haul freight within 400 mile radius of Indianapolis then return home; 10 hour rests will often keep drivers overnight with an immediate turn home. Drivers are out two overnights a week and are home multiple days each week.

Compensation:

  • Average Annual Earnings: $90,000 - $100,000+
    • Base Rate: $29.00/hour with 55-60 average hours per week
      • Overtime paid after 40 hours worked
      • Scheduled annual increases

Home Time, Route & Schedule:

  • Home Time: Out & Back runs with 10-hour rest often keeping drivers out overnight. Drivers are out two overnights a week with multiple days home each week.
  • Schedule: Dispatch Monday - Saturday with schedules varying 5-6 days per week. Work week starts Sunday night / Monday morning
  • Shift: Typically starts between 12am - 5am. Workday is typically 12-14 hours per day.
    • Some weekend/holiday work will be required (Everyone is off Thanksgiving & Christmas)
  • Route: Drivers will drive throughout the Midwest surrounding the Indianapolis area
    • Must be flexible with route changes
    • Routes can have 3-10 stops per day
    • Palletized freight, dock deliveries to grocery warehouses and retail chains in IN, IL, KY, OH, MI, MO, TN, WI & WV
  • Level of Touch: unload pallets using manual pallet jack; some pallet breakdown and hand unload
    • Must be able to use a manual pallet jack / occasional hand unload

Equipment:

  • Freightliner M2 Reefer Trucks & Conventional Tractors
    • All trucks are late models, never older than 5-years as new inventory is always added
    • Transmission: Automatic
  • If drivers are not in a sleeper cab, hotel accommodations will be arranged

 Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have CDL A license
    • Drivers with a CDL B license are still encouraged to express interest - our team has opportunities for you that we would love to discuss with you!
  • Must have 12-months of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Drivers cannot have more than 6-points on their driving record at one time
  • Air-brakes endorsements required 
  • Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations 
  • Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen 
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Hiring Radius: Drivers must live within 60 miles of Indianapolis, IN or be willing to relocate for this position
