Job description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to build Carlyle's next‐generation AI platform and intelligent investment applications. This is a highly hands‐on engineering role responsible for designing and developing the foundational architecture, agent frameworks, orchestration layers, and APIs. A key focus of the role will be the development of a live deal evaluation platform that surfaces investment insights, historical context, recommendations, and diligence findings by combining large language models (LLMs), machine learning, retrieval systems, and enterprise data. This position offers the opportunity to build greenfield AI capabilities that directly support investment decision‐making while partnering closely with data scientists, investment professionals, and product stakeholders. Primary Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services and modern frontend applications. Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed application services. Design and implement production‐ready LLM, retrieval, and machine learning workflows. Convert AI‐generated prototypes into production‐ready applications integrated with Carlyle's core technology stack. Troubleshoot, optimize, and refactor code generated by AI development tools to meet enterprise quality standards. Ensure production systems are scalable, secure, performant, and maintainable. Apply software engineering best practices, clean architecture principles, and modern development methodologies. Utilize AI‐assisted development tools including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and similar technologies to improve engineering productivity. Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and AI engineers to deliver business‐critical capabilities. Contribute to architectural decisions, technical standards, and engineering best practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred. 6+ years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer building production applications. Strong backend development experience using modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go. Experience developing modern frontend applications using frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, or Vue. Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and modern web architectures. Experience integrating enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and distributed services. Demonstrated experience translating AI‐generated prototypes into production‐grade software. Experience with Git‐based software development workflows and CI/CD practices. Hands‐on experience using AI‐assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Lovable, or similar. Experience building scalable, secure, and high‐performing production systems. Experience building applications powered by LLMs, retrieval‐augmented generation (RAG), or agentic AI workflows. Experience developing agent frameworks, orchestration platforms, or Model Context Protocol (MCP)-enabled systems. Familiarity with vector databases, semantic search, embeddings, and retrieval systems. Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Experience building SaaS products or enterprise software platforms. Experience partnering with data scientists to deploy machine learning models and AI applications into production. Benefits / Compensation The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance, disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs.
