About the Firm

Our client is a well established and growing architectural practice with multiple offices across Western Canada. Known for its collaborative approach, strong technical expertise, and commitment to high quality project delivery, the firm works across a diverse range of sectors including multifamily residential, commercial, industrial, and community developments.

Why Join This Team?

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and established practice where experienced team members are trusted to take ownership and have a meaningful impact on project delivery.

Rather than being heavily focused on front end conceptual design, this position will play an important role once projects move into Design Development, helping guide them through documentation, permitting, consultant coordination, and construction.

You'll work across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on multifamily wood frame residential developments alongside commercial and industrial work.

The firm offers a supportive environment with strong mentorship, excellent work life balance, a stable pipeline of projects, and opportunities for continued professional growth.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will take a leading role in coordinating projects from Design Development through Construction, ensuring drawings, consultant information, technical details, and project requirements are properly coordinated throughout the process.

This is a hands on project delivery role suited to someone who has excellent attention to detail and naturally takes ownership of quality control. You will work closely with project teams to review drawing packages, identify coordination issues, resolve technical challenges, and ensure projects are progressing toward key milestones.

You will also act as an important link between internal project teams, consultants, contractors, and senior leadership, helping maintain communication, documentation quality, and overall project organization.

Strong experience with multifamily wood frame residential projects is particularly important, as this represents a significant portion of the firm's current workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate architectural projects from Design Development through Construction

• Oversee the development and coordination of permit and construction documentation

• Perform detailed quality control reviews of drawing packages, details, schedules, and specifications

• Identify coordination issues, drawing inconsistencies, and potential constructability concerns before issuance

• Coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, landscape, and other consultant information within architectural documentation

• Work closely with internal project teams to ensure drawings are complete, accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements

• Track project deliverables, schedules, consultant information, submissions, and outstanding coordination items

• Coordinate permit submissions and respond to municipal and Authority Having Jurisdiction comments

• Support projects through tender and construction, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, site reviews, changes, and coordination with contractors

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior designers and technologists

• Help establish and maintain strong documentation standards and quality control processes across projects

• Work closely with senior leadership to proactively identify project risks, technical challenges, and coordination requirements

Qualifications

• 8+ years of architectural experience within Canada

• Background as a Senior Architectural Technologist, Architectural Designer, Intern Architect, or Architect

• Strong experience delivering multifamily wood frame residential projects is essential

• Demonstrated experience taking projects from Design Development through Construction Documentation and Construction Administration

• Strong technical knowledge of building assemblies, detailing, construction documentation, and consultant coordination

• Excellent quality control skills with the ability to review drawing packages and identify technical or coordination issues

• Strong understanding of the BC Building Code, municipal approval processes, and permitting requirements

• Experience coordinating structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, landscape, and other consulting disciplines

• Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit

• Additional experience across commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed use projects is considered an asset

• Knowledge of BC Energy Step Code and sustainable building practices is considered an asset

• Highly organized with strong communication, coordination, problem solving, and time management skills

• Comfortable mentoring junior team members and providing technical direction when required

What's On Offer

• Competitive salary of $90,000 to $110,000+ depending on experience

• Comprehensive benefits

• Banked overtime

• Strong work life balance

• Professional development and ongoing mentorship

• Diverse portfolio of multifamily residential, commercial, and industrial projects

• Opportunity to take ownership of projects from Design Development through Construction

• Senior role focused on technical coordination, quality control, and project delivery

• Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment

• Stable pipeline of work with long term career growth opportunities

If you're an experienced Architectural Designer or Architectural Technologist who enjoys the technical and coordination side of architecture and takes pride in producing well coordinated, high quality projects, I'd love to connect.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong multifamily wood frame experience who enjoys being involved from Design Development through Construction and wants to play a key role in ensuring projects are technically sound, coordinated, and successfully delivered.
