Controls Engineer 

Job Description: 

The Facilities Controls and Automation Engineer is responsible for several key elements of the building management system (BMS). including the Allen Bradley system front end, the field controllers and the individual equipment controllers. In this role you'll have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of teams and have a major impact on Qorvo's success by maintaining and improving the reliability of the systems, increasing automation capabilities, and bringing new ideas to improve efficiency. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the installation, repairs, and maintenance of all BMS (Building Management System) control features, including both hardware and software.
  • Design and implement controls systems for facilities projects.
  • Revise/update piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Revise PLC input and output drawings and generate controls cable schedules.
  • Troubleshooting issues related to the building management system.
  • Improve reliability and efficiency of Facilities systems such as Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, HVAC, Process Cooling Water, PVAC, Exhaust, CDA, etc. through programming improvement and PID loop tuning.
  • Identify and support cost savings/energy savings projects.
  • Evaluate, monitors and improves the program effectiveness of the Siemens building control system.
  • Maintain the control systems on a variety of PLC systems, including Allen Bradley, GE, and Siemens PLCs.
  • Maintain all monitoring systems on site. 
  • Maintain the fire panel program for the site.
  • Maintain multiple websites for the company including ERT training tracking and EHS compliance system.
  • Maintain database and input program of daily rounds to monitor plant status.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, or Computer Science.
  • 3+ Years of controls engineering experience
  • Experience with PLC programming and SCADA or BAS system operations
  • Strong safety mindset with ability to work in live manufacturing environments 
  • Working knowledge of hazardous gas / chemical safety systems and monitoring

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Siemens PLCs and  Allen Bradley BMS System
  • Self-Starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Previous exposure to industrial design, maintenance/operation of facility systems and basic project management experience
  • Experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication sites
  • Experience editing drawings using AutoCAD or similar
  • Ability to work with people that have varied levels of technical background
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
