Frontend Developer Developer information

Is front-end developer still in demand?

Front-end developers are in high demand due to the ongoing growth of web applications and digital interfaces. Skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular remain valuable, and demand is expected to continue as businesses prioritize user experience and responsive design.

What are Frontend Developers?

Frontend Developers are professionals who design and implement the visual and interactive aspects of websites and web applications. They use languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to ensure that users can interact seamlessly with digital products. Their work involves collaborating with designers and backend developers to create responsive, user-friendly interfaces. Frontend Developers also optimize websites for speed, accessibility, and compatibility across different browsers and devices.

What is the difference between Frontend Developer Developer vs Frontend Engineer?

AspectFrontend Developer DeveloperFrontend Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's in CS or related field, coding certificationsBachelor's or higher in CS, software engineering, or related
Work EnvironmentCollaborative teams, tech companies, startupsTech firms, product teams, cross-functional projects
Industry UsageCommon in job listings, hiring practicesOften used interchangeably, especially in larger companies
Search & ComparisonPopular search term, similar rolesRelated role, sometimes more senior or specialized

Both roles focus on building user interfaces, but Frontend Developer Developer typically emphasizes coding and implementation, while Frontend Engineer may involve more system architecture and performance optimization. The roles often overlap, but the title 'Engineer' can imply a broader scope or more technical responsibility.

How much do front-end developers earn?

Front-end developers' salaries vary based on experience, location, and skill set, but they typically earn between $60,000 and $120,000 annually. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced developers with skills in frameworks like React or Angular can command higher wages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Frontend Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Frontend Developer, you need strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, often supported by a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular, version control systems such as Git, and experience with responsive design tools are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication help developers collaborate with designers and backend teams. These abilities are crucial for creating intuitive, high-performing user interfaces that meet business and user needs.

What are some common challenges faced by Frontend Developers when collaborating with backend teams?

Frontend Developers often encounter challenges such as ensuring seamless integration between frontend interfaces and backend APIs, managing data consistency, and handling discrepancies in data formats or response times. Effective communication is key, as frontend and backend teams need to align on endpoints, error handling, and feature requirements. Regular meetings, clear documentation, and using tools like Swagger or Postman can help bridge gaps and foster smoother collaboration.

What exactly does a front-end developer do?

A front-end developer designs and implements the visual and interactive elements of websites or applications using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They focus on creating user-friendly interfaces, ensuring responsiveness across devices, and often work with design tools and frameworks to build functional, accessible web experiences.

Will AI replace frontend devs?

AI tools can automate certain tasks in frontend development, such as code generation and testing, but they are unlikely to fully replace frontend developers. Developers are needed to design user interfaces, implement complex interactions, and ensure accessibility and user experience. Skills in frameworks, coding, and problem-solving remain essential for frontend roles.

iCOUNTER

Burnaby, BC โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

Salary: $95,000 - $130,000 CAD (commensurate with experience)

About iCOUNTER

iCOUNTER is building the future of cybersecurity.

Modern enterprises rely on thousands of third parties, suppliers, SaaS providers, contractors, and digital partners. At the same time, attackers have shifted their focus to these trusted relationships. Today, nearly half of reported breaches involve a third party, making the extended enterprise one of the largest attack surfaces in cybersecurity.

iCOUNTER is the first Risk Intelligence company built to help organizations identify, determine, and counter threats across their ecosystem. Our AI-native platform makes a Risk Determination at the point of intelligence collection, helping organizations understand what is real, what is relevant, and what requires action.

At the center of our platform is CTOS, the Counter Threat Operating System. CTOS continuously monitors adversary activity, credential exposure, targeting behavior, and ecosystem risk across third and fourth parties. It then routes intelligence into action through automated workflows and managed operations.

If you want to help define the next era of cybersecurity and build technology that helps organizations stop monitoring threats and start countering them, we'dlove to meet you.

Position Overview

Were building AI-powered products and need a frontend developer who can translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive, responsive user experiences. Youll work closely with designers, backend engineers, and ML teams to ship features that put AI directly into users hands.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days in office.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain responsive web interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred; Vue or similar considered).
  • Develop UI for AI-driven features such as chat interfaces, streaming response rendering, model output display, and data visualizations.
  • Integrate the frontend with backend AI/LLM APIs, handling streaming, latency, loading states, and graceful error handling.
  • Collaborate with designers to deliver polished, accessible, and consistent interfaces.
  • Optimize performance and ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and iterative product development.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional frontend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Solid experience with a modern framework (React preferred).
  • Hands-on experience building interfaces for AI/ML products (e.g. LLM chat UIs, streaming token rendering, AI tooling, or similar).
  • Experience consuming REST and/or streaming APIs (Server-Sent Events, WebSockets).
  • Understanding of state management, component architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada and able to commute to Vancouver for hybrid work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time data and streaming UIs
  • Familiarity with prompt-driven or agentic interfaces
  • Testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, Cypress)
  • Design system or component library experience
  • Working understanding of how LLMs and AI APIs operate

Why Join iCOUNTER

This is a rare opportunity to help define a new cybersecurity category while working alongside industry pioneers, experienced operators, and world-class investors. You will have a direct impact on company strategy, market leadership, and the future of how organizations counter threats across their extended enterprise.

If you are energized by ambiguity, inspired by innovation, and excited to build something category-defining, we want to hear from you.

Completion of a Background Check is required for employment at iCOUNTER
