These abilities are crucial for creating intuitive, high-performing user interfaces that meet business and user needs.

What are some common challenges faced by Frontend Developers when collaborating with backend teams?

Frontend Developers often encounter challenges such as ensuring seamless integration between frontend interfaces and backend APIs, managing data consistency, and handling discrepancies in data formats or response times. Effective communication is key, as frontend and backend teams need to align on endpoints, error handling, and feature requirements. Regular meetings, clear documentation, and using tools like Swagger or Postman can help bridge gaps and foster smoother collaboration.

What exactly does a front-end developer do?

A front-end developer designs and implements the visual and interactive elements of websites or applications using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. ScalePad

Job description

Who We're Looking For

At ScalePad, we hire thoughtful builders who want their work to matter. Our roles are designed for people who thrive on driving impact, see ambiguity as an opportunity, and believe that raising the bar is a team sport.

We don't bring people in to run playbooks. We hire people who want to rewrite them. And in this role, you'll get to do that, while shaping the future of managed services for our global partners. (That's what we call our customers.)

What is ScalePad

At ScalePad, we're building more than software; we're building confidence and clarity for the people who manage the technology businesses rely on every day.

Our mission: help MSPs evolve into MVPs (their clients' most valuable partner). Our tools turn them from reactive service providers into strategic advisors through a consistent, scalable Customer Success motion.
Our product suite unifies risk insights, client planning, and service delivery so MSPs can have smarter conversations, show clients their value, and grow their revenue.

But our purpose goes beyond our software. We're creating a workplace where curious, growth-minded people can do their best work, where ideas are valued, progress is shared, and everyone belongs. Together, we're creating a future where MSPs don't just keep businesses running, they help them thrive. We believe that when our partners succeed, we all do.

With offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Phoenix and a global-first mindset. ScalePad has grown into a category leader trusted by 12,000+ partners across 60+ countries. We've been recognized for our products and corporate culture by MSP Today, G2, and Great Place to Work, to name a few.

About The Role

As a Senior Frontend Developer at ScalePad, you'll help shape the product experiences that turn complex MSP workflows into clear, confident action. You'll work across product, design, and backend engineering to build intuitive, reliable, and scalable interfaces that help our partners understand risk, plan strategically with clients, and deliver stronger outcomes.

This role is for someone who sees frontend engineering as more than implementing screens. You'll influence how users move through high-value workflows, how our design system scales, how frontend architecture supports speed and quality, and how AI can accelerate the way we build, test, understand, and improve software.

AI fluency is a core expectation at ScalePad. In this role, that means using AI as a practical engineering partner: accelerating discovery, prototyping, refactoring, testing, documentation, debugging, and product thinking, while applying strong judgment to ensure the final experience is secure, maintainable, accessible, and genuinely useful for our partners.

What You'll Own

Get ready to go beyond order-taking. Your strategic responsibilities include:

  • Owning high-impact frontend experiences from concept to launch, translating complex product and partner needs into clear, performant, and accessible user interfaces.
  • Raising the bar for frontend quality across architecture, component design, state management, testing, performance, and maintainability, with a bias toward patterns that help teams move faster without creating long-term drag.
  • Using AI-native development practices to improve engineering velocity and product quality, including rapid prototyping, assisted debugging, test generation, code review support, documentation, and exploration of new interaction patterns.
  • Partnering closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and customer-facing teams to turn ambiguity into shippable solutions that create measurable value for MSPs and their clients.
  • Mentoring other developers through thoughtful code reviews, technical guidance, pair programming, and by modeling strong judgment around when to move quickly, when to simplify, and when to invest in deeper foundations.
  • Helping evolve our frontend platform and design system so product teams can deliver consistent, polished experiences across ScalePad's growing suite of products.

What we're looking for

We care about what you can do more than where you've done it. However, experience in the following areas will help you hit the ground running in this role:

  • Strong experience building modern frontend applications with React, TypeScript, and component-based architecture, with a track record of delivering user-facing product experiences that are reliable, maintainable, and easy to evolve.
  • Senior-level judgment in frontend engineering, including accessibility, performance, responsive design, state management, API integration, testing strategy, and the trade-offs behind architectural decisions.
  • AI fluency in day-to-day software development, including using AI tools to accelerate exploration, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation while maintaining high standards for correctness, security, and code quality.
  • A product-minded approach to engineering, with the ability to connect technical decisions to user outcomes, business impact, and partner value.
  • Experience working in collaborative, fast-moving SaaS environments where requirements evolve, feedback is frequent, and strong communication matters as much as strong code.
  • A track record of navigating ambiguity and turning it into action, especially when building new workflows, improving existing systems, or helping teams adopt better ways of working.

Perks

ScalePad offers our employees a blend of purpose, growth, and genuinely great perks.

  • Everyone's an owner. Share in our success through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and RRSP matching.
  • Support for growing families. Parental leave programs are in place to support you and your family when it matters most.
  • Structured mentorship with builders. Join opt-in mentorship programs and learn directly from founders and senior leaders who've scaled multiple SaaS ventures and spent decades in the MSP industry.
  • Invest in your growth every year. Access an annual professional development budget to level up your skills, your career, and your impact.
  • Set yourself up with great tools. Work with brand new, top-of-the-line hardware and equipment so you can do your best work, whether you're at home or in one of our hubs.
  • Modern ways of working. Roles at ScalePad are structured as remote or hybrid, with hub locations in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Phoenix. Specific work models are outlined in each posting.
  • Support for hybrid life. Receive a monthly stipend to help you create an effective hybrid or remote work environment.
  • Well-being and time to recharge. Take care of yourself with 100% employer-paid benefits.

Before You Apply

This is a full-time role for those who are eligible to work in Canada or the United States. We thank all applicants for taking the time to apply, but only candidates who make it to the next stage will be contacted.

Note on AI Use: ScalePad uses AI technology to support certain administrative aspects of our hiring process, such as transcription, note-taking, and interview documentation. These tools are strictly used to assist our team and have no influence on candidate evaluation or hiring decisions.
