The Mission Systems (MS) Sector Supplier Performance Management Organization is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the implementation of strategic data execution initiatives.

The individual that fills this role will be responsible for applying data science and engineering principles to develop data architecture and predictive models in support of sector initiatives. They will work directly with frontend data visualization specialists, and product stakeholders by developing, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines from authoritative data sources needed for metrics and analytics. These data pipelines are crucial for the Sector to gain insight into data to positively influence decision-making at the highest levels and within individual teams. The individual will interact and consult regularly with MS Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Program Leadership, and supporting Functional Leadership.This position can be worked in one of our NG locations, San Diego, CA; Rolling Meadows, IL, Baltimore or Linthicum, MD, Charlottesville, VA, Salt Lake City, UT, or Apopka, FL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, development and implementation of solutions to address ongoing business performance opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum based environment focused on stakeholder outcomes.
  • Work with teams across the sector to understand analytics and data modeling requirements.
  • Help architect and build data pipelines connected to multiple systems and tools.
  • Develop and publish Tableau server dashboards and visualizations used to inform individuals and leaders across the sector.
  • Support cross-team development efforts for multiple projects, including data cleanup, ingestion, and linkage with other data sets.
  • Document design, deployment and operating procedures for each work product.
  • Present data in a meaningful way to executive management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years experience building or creating data workflows or Masters degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience building or creating data workflows.
  • Experience working with SQL to ingest, process, store, and analyze data
  • Experience with data visualization tools Tableau, Power BI, or Excel
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a government Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with ETL Software (Alteryx, Visual Studios SSIS, Apache, Azure Data Factor, AWS Glue, Databricks, Hadoop)
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience with an Oracle based data warehouse
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Experience with Agentic AI
Primary Level Salary Range: $108,200.00 - $187,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
