Job description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for general labor including pick-up and delivery of furniture and other large new and used items from the community for sale at Hospice of Havasuโ€™s donation based Resale Store. It is important in this position to maintain positive relationships with donors, volunteers and store customers. Excellent customer service skills are a must. The Resale Store Furniture Mover recognizes how the Resale Store benefits patients and families of Hospice of Havasu. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greet and assist customers in a courteous and friendly manner.

Provide a supportive and sensitive approach to those making merchandise donations.

Make transportation arrangements for pick-up and delivery of merchandise as assigned.

Handle the movement of goods in a safe and secure manner.

Sort through donated goods removing items that are unsuitable for purchase as assigned.

Assist with inventory control and the management of donations.

Must be able to drive and operate any Hospice of Havasu vehicle safely as to not harm yourself, fellow employees, customers, customer property, and the general public.

Maintain vehicle safety checks as scheduled.

Load, transport, and deliver furniture and various other donated items from customers or businesses in a timely, friendly and courteous manner.

Maintain furniture on sales floor.

Remove trash; haul discarded items to the landfill for disposal.

Put furniture handling equipment and supplies away after use.

Assist with cleaning common areas, restrooms, outdoor walkways and receiving areas as assigned.

Assist with maintaining an attractive front store and organized back store environment.

Collaborate and communicate effectively as part of the team to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Practice safety in the workplace.

Report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Keep Resale Store Shift Lead fully informed.

Fluency in the English language.

Ability to position self to move about, ascend, descend or traverse, transport, operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect or detect, perceive, identify, recognize, observe, inspect and assess are required. Ability to convey, communicate, speak clearly and exchange information, converse with, discern, and express oneself.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate

Training Requirements: (Credentials, licenses or certificates)

Experience:

One-year retail or furniture moving experience preferred.

Valid driverโ€™s license must have two or fewer minor moving violations, or a combination of one at fault accident and minor moving violations in the past three years and no major violations in the past three years.

Knowledge Requirements:

Hospice philosophy of care preferred.

Knowledge and support of agencyโ€™s safety and OSHA policies.

Demonstrated understanding and compliance with agency policies, continuing education, work schedules and required HR documents.

Customer service principles.

Skills and Ability:

Structure and content of English language including the meaning and spelling of words, alphabetization, rules of composition and grammar.

Able to safely drive Resale Store delivery truck to donors and meet scheduled delivery times.

Calculate general math computations.

Computer literate in basic software packages.

Read and interpret directions on labeling.

Problem solving skills.

Utilize proper body mechanics and safe working techniques.

Special Requirements:

Ability to operate a motorized vehicle and is auto insurable with minimum coverage as follows: $100,000 bodily injury per person, $300,000 bodily injury per accident and $50,000 property damage and have reliable transportation for work in the community and surrounding areas.

Ability to travel with-in the agencyโ€™s service area of 1.5 hours distance to/from the home office. Other travel may include occasional overnight trips to attend conferences etc.

On-call hours may be assigned to include nights, holidays and weekends. Hours may be flexible.

Participate in and complete all continuing education activities as assigned in a timely manner.
