 POSITION SUMMARY

The Front End Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front end loader in support of asphalt plant operations. This position loads aggregate materials into cold feed bins, maintains stockpiles, assists with inventory management, and supports overall plant production. The operator is expected to perform daily equipment inspections, maintain a safe work environment, and contribute to the efficient production of quality asphalt products.
 

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTSEssential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate a front end loader safely and efficiently to support asphalt plant production.
  • Load aggregate materials into cold feed bins while maintaining proper material flow.
  • Build, maintain, and manage aggregate stockpiles to prevent contamination.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate material needs to plant management.
  • Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational equipment inspections.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including greasing, fueling, and checking fluid levels.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas around the plant and stockpile locations.
  • Assist with general plant maintenance, housekeeping, and labor duties as needed.
  • Follow all plant traffic patterns, operational procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with plant operators, truck drivers, mechanics, and supervisors.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of front end loader operation and safe equipment practices.
  • Understanding of aggregate materials and stockpile management preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and hazard recognition.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Ability to identify equipment issues and communicate effectively with supervisors and maintenance personnel.
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating a front end loader or similar heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience in asphalt production, aggregates, mining, construction, or related industries preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

  • Frequently sit while operating heavy equipment for extended periods.
  • Regularly climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Frequently enter and exit equipment using ladders and handholds.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, reflective vest, and steel-toed boots.
