Front End Assistant Manager - FT 40 hrs. per wk.

Department: Front End
Reports To: Front End Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary Level: $22.00 - $34.00 / hr.
Summary: Ensure store security, provide strong customer service and ensure smooth store operations during designated shifts. The Assistant Front End Manager assists in the supervision of the front end staff and other departments in the absence of a department manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Customer Service โ€“
  • Handle customer questions and complaints that cannot be resolved by other staff.

Safety and Security โ€“
  • Maintain security of store during shift, ensure that store is opened and closed following security procedures.
  • Keep store in clean, orderly condition during shift. See that spills and hazardous conditions are cleaned up.
  • Deal with shoplifters, disorderly customers, and medical emergencies in accordance with established procedures.

Supervisory โ€“
  • Schedule and ensure lead cashiers, cashiers, utility clerks and courtesy clerks breaks
  • Assigned cashiers, utility clerks and courtesy clerks secondary tasks. Under special circumstances, prioritize work in the store and reassign employeesโ€™ tasks.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns during shift as needed, using established procedures.
  • Observe status of each department and report discrepancies, performance problems or other relevant conditions to Front End Manager.
  • Secure all cash at day end (make sure all cashiers have put away drawers and money bags are in safe).
  • Approve checks, make front end/store โ€œjudgment callsโ€, provide change for cashiers, approve refunds, etc.
  • Ensure cashiers sign off registers.
  • Implement (advanced) training for cashiers at Front End Managerโ€™s request.
  • Community updates, procedures, etc. to cashiers
  • Meet with Front End Manager as scheduled
  • Increase accuracy in scanning through communication with scanning coordinator
  • Facilitate other tasks assigned by Front End Manager.

Responsibilities to Safety:
  • Protect the safety of self, co-worker's, and BriarPatch Co-op patrons at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to supervisor.
  • Follow all company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of self or others.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises lead cashiers, cashiers, utility clerks and courtesy clerks.
