Job description

The Front/Back Office Medical Assistant is responsible for greeting, checking-in and assisting patients in the office. Must have previous clinical experience working in a medical office and the ability to handle difficult situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Front Office responsibilities include:

  • Patient registration, check-in and scheduling appointments
  • Insurance eligibility verification and knowledge of medical insurance (HMO/PPO)
  • Answering multi-line telephones and collecting patient co-pays
  • Maintaining patient privacy and knowledge of HIPPA requirements
  • Handling requests for medical records
  • Recording patient information in the electronic medical records (E H R) system

Back Office responsibilities include:

  • Checking-in and preparing patients for examinations/procedures
  • Taking vitals and recording basic medical history
  • Submitting Prior-Authorization requests
  • Maintaining infectious control & disinfection
