Job description

Location: Rosedale, NY (Hard-to-Place Agency Operated Boarding Home)
Shifts Available:
  • Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (This is an awake shift; staff must remain alert throughout.)

About the Job:
SCO Family of Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team and provide exceptional care to young men in foster care, ages 15 to 24. This role will take place at our Hard-to-Place, Agency Operated Boarding Home in Rosedale, NY.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and an understanding of the unique needs of youth in foster care. In addition to providing support, you'll help create a safe and structured environment, assist with daily activities, and guide the youth through their daily routines. Your ability to connect with and support young people will have a significant impact on their development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for residents.
  • Prepare meals according to the weekly meal plan and assist with meal distribution.
  • Participate in a variety of programming, including individual and group activities, sports, games, and trips.
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as reports, daily logs, checklists, and point sheets.
  • Accompany youth to appointments, activities, and community outings.
  • Monitor the youth's medical, educational, and vocational needs and support casework and clinical appointments.
  • Address negative behavior with appropriate intervention techniques.
  • Maintain professional relationships with youth, families, and team members.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, Zoom, and Teams.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and keep accurate records.
  • Successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, including physical restraint competency, is required. Ongoing TCI refreshers are mandatory.
  • Previous experience working with adolescents or in child welfare is preferred.
  • Must be able to provide strong professional references.
