Job description

Make Every Machine Count

Join a USA Today Top Workplace! Picture this: you start your day from home, drive a company-provided vehicle to a customer in Northern Illinois, connect to a Haas control, diagnose an intermittent spindle alarm, source the right parts, and get production back on schedule. By afternoon, you’re training operators on preventive maintenance for a 5-axis UMC. That’s impact—every single day.

HFO Chicago—part of the third-generation, family-owned Morris Group, Inc., one of North America’s largest machine tool distribution networks—exclusively represents Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products across Northern Illinois and Indiana. For over two decades, we’ve championed manufacturers with precision solutions that drive productivity and competitiveness.

What You’ll Do
  • Travel to customer facilities to install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair Haas CNC machines and controls (vehicle and gas provided).
  • Leverage online manuals, technical libraries, and vendor resources to pinpoint issues and determine corrective actions.
  • Document service findings, repairs, and installation details clearly for customers and internal teams.
  • Deliver after-sales technical support, operator coaching, and proactive maintenance services.
  • Stay current on machine tool trends and the full Haas portfolio—mills, lathes, horizontals, verticals, rotary tables, indexers, and 5-axis platforms.
  • Complete structured onboarding that includes CNC repair training and Haas factory certification within your first year.
  • Report to the Service Manager and assist with related duties as needed; responsibilities may evolve with business needs.

Note: Responsibilities listed illustrate the types of work performed. Similar or logically related tasks may be assigned.

What You Bring
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical service or engineering; prior CNC repair exposure is welcomed.
  • Fluency reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics (required).
  • Comfort using a laptop, smartphone, and various software tools; Microsoft Office familiarity is a plus.
  • Clear, professional communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to routinely lift 40–50 lbs and work flexible hours with frequent regional travel; you’ll be dispatched daily from home to customer sites.
Rewards & Benefits
  • Competitive starting pay
  • Comprehensive health package with a zero-premium medical option, plus vision, dental, and company-paid life insurance
  • 3+ weeks’ vacation to start and 10 paid company holidays
  • 401(k) with company contribution
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Employee appreciation events, perks, and an Employee Assistance Program
