Help Schools Build Stronger Readers

Scholastic is seeking motivated Sales Consultant and Event Coordinators to help expand and grow our Book Fair programs. In this role, you will work with our school customers to drive bookings, maximize the performance of every fair, and build long-term partnerships that support student learning and literacy development.

The Fair Consultant is responsible for owning a defined territory and portfolio of accounts, with accountability for fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair (RPF). This role blends sales and event leadership-requiring the ability to close business, grow accounts, maximize each fair's performance, and drive repeat business through strong execution and relationship management.

This hourly role requires exceptional organization, strong project management skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. The position drives territory performance by managing customer relationships, influencing booking decisions, executing high-impact fairs, and delivering consistent, repeatable results. This is a remote/home-based role that collaborates closely with cross-functional teams.

These full-time hourly positions offer medical, dental and vision benefits, a Paid Time Off program that includes vacation, personal and sick time, a generous 50% off discount on Scholastic merchandise, 401k with a company match, and the possibility of summers off.

The anticipated start date for the next onboarding/training class is August 31, 2026.

In addition to the base hourly rate, Scholastic offers a Sales Compensation program which includes the opportunity to earn seasonal and annual incentives.

The base hourly range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You'll Do

Own and deliver on territory performance, including fair count, revenue, and revenue per fair (RPF) goals

Drive new bookings and re-bookings, building and maintaining a strong pipeline of fairs across your territory
Actively influence and close customer decisions, identifying opportunities to grow accounts and expand participation
Manage a portfolio of accounts, focusing on growing long-term relationships and repeat business
Partner with school hosts to maximize fair performance, including:

  • Coaching on strategies to increase traffic, engagement, and overall sales
  • Recommending and upselling revenue-driving programs, promotions, and merchandising opportunities
  • Preparing hosts to successfully engage their school communities

Lead the execution of fairs as high-impact, revenue-generating events, ensuring both a strong customer experience and financial outcomes
Proactively manage retention, including securing rebooking's, strengthening partnerships, and saving at-risk fairs
Complete outbound and inbound customer outreach, follow-ups, and account management activities
Track and document outreach, pipeline, and performance insights in the CRM system
Support territory performance by prioritizing opportunities, managing pipelines, and executing against sales goals
Meet or exceed activity expectations and territory performance goals

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven successful sales experience in territory/account management, personal selling, and customer growth
  • Demonstrated ability to close business, influence customer decisions, and grow accounts
  • Experience with event management or customer-facing program execution preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office software; experience with Sales Automation, Customer Relationship Management or Web-based software programs
  • Familiarization with children's literature, Book Fairs, and school activities desired
  • Ability to execute a vision, manage multiple priorities, and achieve measurable results
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and influencing skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills with peers, superiors, and customers
  • Proficient in marketing and merchandising strategy and execution


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in a remote/home based environment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of computer use and extensive phone communication.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
