Job description

Scope:

The Lead Staff is a 40-hour per week position and is responsible for supporting the Home Administrator (HA) in the oversight of the residential home for adult or senior individuals with developmental disabilities.

Purpose:

The Lead Staff will support the Home Administrator in the completion of all necessary paperwork and consumer support in accordance with Community Care Licensing regulations. This individual must possess a strong commitment to developing individualized, quality residential services for people with developmental disabilities that are consistent with the philosophy, vision and mission of Alegria Community Living.

Under the direction of the Home Administrator the Lead Staff is responsible for assisting with the care and supervision of the individuals residing in an ARF (Adult Residential Facility) or a RCFE (Residential Care Facility for the Elderly). This home supports three or four adults and/or seniors with developmental disabilities to live successfully in the community in a progressive new model of care.

This individual must be competent and knowledgeable regarding the passing of medications, oversight and tracking of the MARS, and have good attention to detail. The Lead Staff must be responsive and possess excellent communication skills.

Principle Responsibilities:

1. To maintain the vision of Alegria at the highest level of respect and services for the consumers we serve.

2. A complete understanding of how the home and staffing operates; and an ability to instruct and work well with the Direct Support Professionals (DSP).

3. Assist the Home Administrator in on-site training of DSPs.

4. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and maintain DSP work schedules.
  • Supervise and monitor DSP staff with the support of the HA.
  • Work collaboratively with the HA on follow-up of all medical care for the residents. Help in crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Model best practices for all staff members.
  • Perform consumer care as required.
  • Assist HA in daily interactions and representation of residential home to RCEB, CCL, DDS, and other agencies.
  • Assist the HA to arrange, coordinate, and/or attend person-centered meetings including IPP, consultations with other professionals (i.e., doctors, behaviorist, and case managers) as needed.
  • Report to the HA any events or facility operations that affect consumer well-being or staff safety.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of learning and activity schedules for each consumer.
  • Document consumer use of personal money and assistance with medications as needed.
  • Assist the HA to ensure that the facility is always adequately stocked, that all equipment is in good working condition and the site is maintained in a healthy, safe and attractive manner.Assist HA to ensure that consumer assessments, ISPs, documentation, and progress reports are completed in a person centered, timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist the HA to maintain facility and consumer records in accordance with Title17, Title22, and all requirements specified by any regulatory and case management agencies, e.g., RCEB, CCLD, and Labor Relations Board.
  • Attend appropriate in-service and continuing education courses.
  • Arrange transportation to medical, dental and other appointments or activities. Advocate, collaborate and coordinate to ensure that all consumer medical information, prescriptions and medical orders are carried out.
  • Comply with consumer rights, mandated reporting and special incident requirements

. Observe for any changes in consumer status/well-being and report immediately to Home Administrator, consultant, consumers personal physician, and/or case manager, as appropriate.

  • Meet and assist in coordinating with consultants.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the HA.

Qualifications:

1) Be knowledgeable and able to comply with all Title22 and Title17 requirements.
2) Be a certified DSP in Parts 1 & 2 or complete DSP training Parts 1 & 2 prior to the end of 12th month of work as Lead Staff.

3) Prior experience training/modeling medical procedures (medication passing, proper feeding techniques, hygiene, proper transfer, etc.)

4) Supervisory experience preferred

5) Be willing to receive training in non-physical methods of crises intervention training ( MANDT)
6) Have completed or be willing to complete ARF and RCFE Administrator’s Certification Program and pass state exam to provide back-up to current Home Administrator

7) Ability to lift and transfer (75 lbs.).

8) Meet all requirements of Title 22 including but not limited to:

-Age 21 years

-Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.

-Complete a Health Screen with TB clearance.

-Complete a DOJ/FBI fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

-Complete CPR & First Aid training.

-California Driver’s License

-Clear driving record
