Job Description
As a FinOps Engineer for the Enterprise Architecture & Platforms (EAP) domain, you will lead the automation, simplification, and efficiency of cost containment & reporting within Nike's public & private cloud ecosystem. You will transform complex technical requirements into simple solutions that will impact teams on a global scale. You will support application developers and data analysts in enhancing value, producing quality data, and integrating cloud tools & platforms in support of digital transformation. You will be evangelizing cloud cost management across many levels within the organization from executive leadership to individuals and teams. Help promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness.
Requirements
• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• A DevOps mindset
• Extensive knowledge of AWS public cloud infrastructure; Azure and Google Cloud is a plus
• Deep understanding of core public & private cloud billing, cost management, and data visualization tools (e.g. CloudHealth, Cloudability, BigQuery, AWS Cost Explorer, Kubecost, SparkLens, VRealize)
• Solid understanding of cloud billing and metering and the impact of usage patterns on total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Proficiency in developing repeatable and efficient automation to codify and simplify end-to-end processes and methods in public and private cloud landscapes
• Proficiency in using & integrating application programming interfaces (APIs)
• A passion for problem solving and customer service
• Experience building a cloud financial management roadmap
• Senior experience scripting using Python, as well as Perl, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages
• A passion for automating everything, from leveraging open source tools to delivering machine learning based forecasts, self-service budgets, and real time Kubernetes spend visibility and much more!.
• Experience with Application Performance Management tools (e.g. SignalFX, NewRelic, DataDog) preferred
• Experience providing chargeback, showback, budgeting and forecasting as core capabilities of cloud financial management
• Experience creating advanced product level visibility that will help drive better business decisions and cost accountability
