GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A Portfolio Optimization Intern supports the Planning and Market Operations Division by contributing to process improvement initiatives, data analytics, and optimization strategies for load and generation. The intern also assists the electric power market operations team at AECC with analysis and operational support. In this position, you will work alongside peers who are versatile, enthusiastic, and committed to advancing AECC's mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with data collection, validation, and analysis related to load forecasting, generation planning, and market operations. Assist in creation of analytics-ready data sets.ย ย 
  • Support optimization modeling efforts used for portfolio planning and economic dispatch.
  • Perform analytical reviews of forecasts and strategies.ย ย 
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support decision-making
  • Assist in creating business intelligence tool reports.ย ย 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement more efficient workflows.ย ย 
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.ย ย 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.ย ย 
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science or Data Analyticsย ย 
  • Adept in Microsoft Office suite.ย ย 
  • Possesses analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.ย ย 
  • Detailed and accuracy oriented.ย ย 
  • High level of skill in analytical writing and technical documentation.ย ย 
  • Good communication skills.ย ย 
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.ย ย
