Job description
The Pool Monitor is responsible for overseeing pool activities to help ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for residents, guests, and visitors. This position monitors adherence to pool rules and regulations, maintains order within the pool area, and promptly reports any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance issues to management. The Pool Monitor is not a lifeguard position unless specifically designated and certified as such.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the pool area to ensure all guests comply with established pool rules and community policiesÂ
- Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all residents and visitorsÂ
- Observe pool activities and address inappropriate or unsafe behavior in a professional mannerÂ
- Check pool access credentials, guest passes, or sign-in logs as requiredÂ
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, furniture, and common areasÂ
- Report maintenance concerns, equipment malfunctions, cleanliness issues, or safety hazards to management promptlyÂ
- Respond appropriately to emergencies by contacting emergency services and notifying management when necessaryÂ
- Complete incident reports and daily activity logs as requiredÂ
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the pool areaÂ
- Enforce occupancy limits and facility guidelines when applicableÂ
- Provide courteous customer service and answer general questions from residents and guestsÂ
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferredÂ
- Previous customer service, security, recreation, or hospitality experience preferredÂ
- Strong communication and interpersonal skillsÂ
- Ability to remain attentive and observant for extended periodsÂ
- Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and calmlyÂ
- Reliable, punctual, and dependableÂ
- Basic knowledge of pool safety practices preferredÂ
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required unless mandated by employer or local regulationsÂ
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of timeÂ
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and humidityÂ
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 poundsÂ
- Ability to see, hear, and respond quickly to emergencies or disturbancesÂ
Work Environment
- Outdoor pool and recreational facility environmentÂ
- May require evening, weekend, and holiday availabilityÂ
- Seasonal or part-time schedules may apply depending on operational needsÂ
