Job Description:
Maintenance Mechanic – Plastic Bag Machine Technician

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plastic bag manufacturing equipment, specifically Hudson-Sharpe and Ro-An (Roan) bag-making machines. This role ensures all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime while supporting production teams and machine operators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Hudson-Sharpe and Ro-An plastic bag machines
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
  • Support bag machine operators by resolving machine breakdowns quickly
  • Adjust, align, and calibrate machines for optimal performance and product quality
  • Replace worn or defective parts such as belts, rollers, blades, and seals
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend machine life
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance work, repairs, and parts usage
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
  • Assist in installation and setup of new equipment or upgrades
  • Work closely with production teams to improve machine efficiency and output
Requirements:
  • Experience working with Hudson-Sharpe and/or Ro-An (Roan) bag-making machines preferred
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical systems (motors, sensors, PLCs is a plus)
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Experience in plastic manufacturing or converting industry preferred
  • Familiarity with tools, welding, and fabrication techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing / production facility
  • May require overtime, weekends, or shift work depending on production needs
Preferred Skills (Optional but Valuable):
  • Experience as a bag machine operator
  • PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley or similar)
  • Preventive maintenance system experience (CMMS)
