This is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of underground mining operations while building experience in project management, business improvement, and long-term planning.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer and working within a collaborative technical team at Kennecott, you will:
  • Prepare mine plans and schedules that support long-range planning horizons and operational decision-making

  • Develop life-of-mine designs and support underground development planning activities

  • Assist with IFC design generation and technical documentation as needed

  • Support stope drilling and production planning to help enable safe and efficient execution

  • Participate in ventilation surveys, modeling, and analysis to support safe underground operations

  • Identify improvement opportunities and support implementation in partnership with the broader technical and operational teams

About you
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Mining Engineering or a related discipline

  • At least 3 years of mining engineering experience, preferably in underground metal mining

  • Experience with 3D mine design and drafting software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar platforms

  • Well-developed analytical and technical skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently, contribute within a team, build collaborative relationships, and use tools such as Excel, Word, or SAP

Even if your profile does not fully meet all qualifications, we encourage you to apply; transferable skills and the right attitude are highly valued.
What we offer
Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress.
  • A work environment where safety is always the number one priority

  • Competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with an annual incentive bonus

  • Access to top-tier family-friendly health programs including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, life insurance coverage, and various voluntary benefits

  • Excellent retirement plan including up to 6% defined company contribution and a generous 401(k) matching program

  • Attractive share ownership plan

  • Comprehensive leave policies which cover all the moments that matter in life, including paid time off, paid holidays, and paid bereavement leave

  • A generous parental leave policy, which ensures you are able to spend quality time with your new family

  • Discount programs for leisure purposes and access to Personify Health with incentives supporting your wellbeing

  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential counselling or expert guidance for you and your family to help get through life's challenges
