Job description

Job summary
AWS Metering is one of Amazon's largest big data processing teams. Computing AWS bills is, at its core, a large-scale distributed systems problem that requires processing trillions of usage records every hour. Our systems process over 2 billion events per second and more than 1.6 petabytes per hour for millions of customers, with a 100% accuracy commitment-and this volume grows 2x every 14 months

We solve complex computer science problems around idempotency, once-and-only-once processing, and hot-partition management, all at an extraordinary scale across globally distributed services. As a foundational system, we are dedicated to scaling with the growth of AWS.
As a software engineer on this team, you will develop and improve large-scale distributed systems built on AWS services. You will learn new technologies and build new applications on big data platforms

AWS Metering is on the critical path of Billing-your work will be used by hundreds of AWS teams, impact millions of external customers, and save millions of dollars in cost.
Mentorship & Career Growth
Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we're building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews

We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
Why AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating - that's why customers from the most successful startups to Global 500 companies trust our robust suite of products and services to power their businesses.
Work/Life Balance
Our team puts a high value on work-live balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life

We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
Diverse Experiences
Amazon values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply

If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.
