Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Technician to lead commercial and industrial structured cabling, electronic access control, and low-voltage system installations throughout Virginia. This is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for supervising installation crews while performing installation, programming, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and servicing of structured cabling, electronic access control, CCTV, fiber optic, and other low-voltage systems.

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to manage field activities while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Occasional travel is required based on project assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and train installation technicians in the field.
  • Install, configure, and service:
  • Structured Cabling Systems
  • Electronic Access Control Systems
  • Fiber Optic Infrastructure
  • CCTV/IP Video Surveillance Systems
  • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
  • Other Low-Voltage Systems
  • Pull, terminate, test, certify, and label copper and fiber cabling.
  • Install cameras, card readers, door hardware, control panels, NVRs, alarm devices, and associated equipment.
  • Program, commission, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic access control and low-voltage systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and project drawings.
  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities and ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Maintain installation quality, jobsite safety, and accurate project documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, general contractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Diagnose technical issues and provide timely field solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and jobsite safety requirements.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience installing and servicing CCTV/IP Video Surveillance Systems.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience installing and servicing Electronic Access Control Systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and testing.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Lead Technician or in a field leadership role.
  • Strong experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting electronic access control and low-voltage systems—not just hardware installation.
  • Experience pulling, terminating, testing, and certifying structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • Strong understanding of commercial structured cabling and low-voltage installation practices.
  • Must own and maintain basic hand tools required for commercial structured cabling and low-voltage installations.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation to the reporting office.
  • Ability to commute to College Park, GA 30349.
  • Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, work in ceilings, and perform work in indoor and outdoor commercial environments.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years leading installation crews or field teams.
  • Active DCJS Registration.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience working in commercial construction environments.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and network connectivity.
  • Experience with A/V system installation and integration.
  • Experience installing, programming, configuring, or troubleshooting one or more of the following platforms: Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Brivo, OpenPath, Verkada, Honeywell, Bosch, or DSC.
