Job Description Summary
The Highly Skilled Shotpeen Technician is responsible for operating production equipment and supporting manufacturing processes to produce quality hardware in accordance with established specifications, procedures, and work instructions. This role requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work both independently and under moderate direct supervision.
The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in machine operation, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance checks, and process compliance, while contributing to team performance through knowledge sharing, informal peer support, and continuous skill development.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and follow all applicable processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Operate machine software and controls effectively and safely in support of production requirements.
  • Operate production-ready machines to produce hardware that meets engineering and quality specifications.
  • Perform rework and repairs in accordance with established process requirements.
  • Inspect parts and identify quality issues, defects, or nonconformances to ensure adherence to precision and quality standards.
  • Use all required gages, measuring instruments, and inspection equipment accurately and appropriately for the current operation.
  • Perform required verifications accurately, consistently, and in accordance with process requirements.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks on machines and equipment and verify 100% completion of required checks.
  • Follow established defect procedures and instructions to minimize scrap and preserve hardware where applicable.
  • Apply proper material handling techniques and use appropriate tools throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support operations across multiple areas through cross-training in ID and Shot Peen operations.
  • Utilize required production systems and tools, including TipQA, Proficy, and Predator.
  • Diagnose and resolve common production or process issues independently and address some more complex issues when appropriate.
  • Recognize when issues require escalation and identify the appropriate contact for additional support.
  • Provide process- and quality-related guidance and informal training to less experienced peers and operators.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to train, mentor, and support team capability development within the area of responsibility.
  • Continue developing technical and leadership capability through trainers, mentors, and on-the-job experiences.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • One year of experience operating machine software and production equipment controls.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols and their application.
  • One year of experience operating machinery and produce quality hardware in accordance with defined specifications.
  • Ability to use required gages, measuring devices, and inspection tools effectively.
  • Ability to perform rework, repairs, and required process verifications accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to complete preventive maintenance checks and confirm full completion of required inspection items.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, including the ability to independently resolve common issues.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems/tools such as TipQA, Proficy, and Predator.
  • Ability to work under moderate direct supervision while making routine decisions within established parameters.
  • Ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks and follow documented instructions or direction from a trainer or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Cross-training and demonstrated capability in ID and Shot Peen operations.
  • Experience providing informal instruction, coaching, or peer support in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness and capability to mentor others.
  • Interest in building broader capability toward future team leadership or supervisory responsibility.
  • Ability to troubleshoot more advanced production issues and determine when escalation is required.

This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
