Job description

This is a senior-level field technician and programmer position. Applicants must have hands-on experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting Control4, Crestron Home, Crestron, Savant, or comparable integrated control systems.

Position Overview

  • Design, install, program, commission, troubleshoot, and support advanced AV, automation, networking, security, surveillance, lighting control, and smart technology systems.
  • Work on high-end residential and commercial projects throughout the Phoenix area.
  • Take ownership of field problems, communicate professionally with clients, and deliver clean, reliable systems.
  • This is not an entry-level installer, helper, alarm-only, or basic TV-mounting position.

Core Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, program, test, troubleshoot, and service integrated AV and automation systems.
  • Program and support Control4, Crestron Home, Crestron, Savant, or comparable control platforms.
  • Commission systems before client turnover to confirm proper operation and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, networks, Wi-Fi, amplifiers, speakers, video distribution, source equipment, remotes, touchscreens, surveillance cameras, security systems, lighting control, and connected devices.
  • Read and interpret plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, and project scopes.
  • Terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot network, speaker, control, coaxial, HDMI, fiber, and other low-voltage cabling.
  • Install and configure audio systems, including amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, microphones, soundbars, distributed audio equipment, and related components.
  • Build, dress, wire, and service equipment racks using organized and serviceable wiring practices.
  • Perform field service visits for maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and client support.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, service notes, and job progress accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, builders, designers, project managers, coworkers, and other trades.
  • Lead or support other technicians in the field depending on project needs.
  • Provide occasional weekend phone support when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional low-voltage, AV, automation, or technology integration experience.
  • Required: hands-on programming experience with Control4, Crestron Home, Crestron, Savant, or a comparable control platform.
  • Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial AV system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring standards, cabling practices, terminations, testing, and labeling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot control programming, signal flow, network connectivity, audio issues, video issues, device communication problems, and hardware failures.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision and solve field problems accurately.
  • Clean workmanship and organized installation practices.
  • Professional communication skills and strong customer service standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must provide basic hand tools, testing equipment, and 4 ft. and 6 ft. ladders.

Preferred Experience

  • Control4 certification.
  • Crestron Home programming experience.
  • Lutron lighting control or motorized shade experience.
  • Networking experience with Ubiquiti, Araknis, eero, or similar systems.
  • Security system experience with DSC, Qolsys, Alarm.com, or similar platforms.
  • Surveillance system experience with NVRs, IP cameras, and remote access configuration.
  • Experience with distributed audio, video distribution, home theaters, conference rooms, and equipment racks.
  • Experience coordinating with builders, electricians, designers, and other trades on active construction projects.
  • ProjX360 project management experience a plus
