JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Hours: Varying Working Hours for Part Time and PRN. Morning and Evening Shifts Open

Food Service Worker

Summary of the Job:
Responsible for placing items on trays according to diet/order according to time standards. Checks all cold items for accuracy, acceptability, quality and adherence to the diet order/recipes. Does not use any unacceptable or out dated food items and requests replacement items. Does not substitute without the patient's permission. Replenishes supplies on the tray line. Maintains equipment and clean work environment. Communicates politely and effectively with staff and patients. Assumes the role of patient advocate. Helps wherever and whenever needed. Demonstrates acceptance of CARES and HAACP standards in all work activities. Cross trained on all tray line positions. Demonstrates knowledge of diets. Takes direction from Expeditor. Changes assignments as needed to ensure patient and customer satisfaction.

Food Production Worker

Summary of the Job:

Responsible for the preparation of the hot and cold food for the Room Service program according to instructions and within the established time standards. Accepts responsibility for food and adherence to recipes. Prepares food according to patient's order and does not substitute without patient's permission. Remakes food as requested/needed to ensure quality and accuracy. Compiles with changes in production. Sets up items for assembly line for this meal and preps/replenishes for the next. Responsible for setting up and maintaining the grill, preparing omelets, breakfast items, lunch items according to directions. Maintains clean work and eating environment. Makes breakfast sandwiches and replenishes supplies to all areas. Communicates politely and effectively with staff, customers and patients. Assumes the role of patient advocate. Helps wherever and whenever needed including training others. Identifies and resolves issues with HAACP compliance. Demonstrates acceptance of CARES and HAACP standards. Collects and disposes of garbage. Responsible for and maintains equipment, cleanliness of kitchen, clean floors, breaking down boxes, etc. Cross-trained to work other food production worker positions.

Room Service Specialist/Call Center

Summary of the Job:
Serves meals to patients efficiently and timely. Instructs patients on meal ordering process. Explains general guidelines of physician's diet orders. Assists patients in placing meal orders when needed. Places meal orders into the computer system (Computrition) for menu processing. Liaison between the call center, patient and the production/ tray line areas; and between the patient, nurse and dietitian. Communicates politely and effectively with staff and patients. Assumes the role of patient advocate. Helps wherever and whenever needed. Demonstrates acceptance of C.A.R.E.S. and HACCP standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

No experience necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively and follow both verbal and/or written instructions.Must be able to work anytime weekdays, weekends and holidays between the hours of 5:30 am and 8:30 pm. This position is considered essential during emergency conditions. Exhibits consistent customer/patient focus showing courtesy and respect. Consistently able to exceed patients expectations. Willingness to comply with dress code, CARES and HACCP standards. Must be able to think logically and make decisions based on experience and training. Must have excellent knowledge of or ability and willingness to learn about all diets/modifications, menu items and computer programs. Must be able to follow diet guidelines when assembling meal orders.

Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%)- lifting, carrying, balancing, reaching, handling/feeling
Occasionally (1%-33%)- pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching
