A From Home CNC Swiss Programmer is a professional who specializes in programming and operating Swiss-type CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes, but works remotely from home rather than on-site in a manufacturing facility. They create and optimize code to control the machines, ensuring precise production of complex components, often for industries such as medical devices or aerospace. This role involves using CAD/CAM software, troubleshooting machining issues, and collaborating with teams virtually to meet production requirements. Working from home may require secure access to company networks and strong communication skills to coordinate with other engineers, machinists, and quality assurance staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a from home CNC Swiss programmer?

To excel as a From Home CNC Swiss Programmer, you need expertise in CNC Swiss lathe programming, strong mechanical aptitude, and experience with machining processes, often supported by a technical degree or relevant certifications. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (such as Mastercam or Esprit), G-code programming, and remote desktop tools is typically required. Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These abilities ensure high-quality, precise production and efficient workflow management, even when working off-site.

Elma Electronic Inc. is a privately held global manufacturer of high precision electronic systems and components supporting mission critical applications across the defense, aerospace, and industrial technology markets.
Are you a hands-on CNC Machinist who thrives on precision, problem solving, and working with cutting edge equipment? Join Elma Electronic Inc., where your craftsmanship directly contributes to high quality, engineered solutions used by customers around the world.
We're looking for a Machinist who can independently set up, program, and operate CNC machining equipment and take pride in producing parts that meet exacting specifications.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll be trusted to work with minimal supervision on routine jobs while exercising sound judgment on more complex machining assignments. Your day-to-day work will include:
  • Set up, program, operate, and maintain CNC machines to manufacture precision parts from detailed blueprints
  • Perform machining operations such as milling, drilling, reaming, boring, turning, facing, and more-holding tight tolerances
  • Select operation sequences, tools, feeds, speeds, and fixtures required for each job
  • Read, write, and troubleshoot machine G-code (Haas programming)
  • Develop or modify tools and fixtures for unique or non-standard operations
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, height gauges)
  • Follow all safety requirements and shop best practices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop operations
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of related machining experience
  • Proven experience with CNC setup and operation
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of Haas CNC programming (G-code)
  • Familiarity with standard inspection and measurement tools
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Preferred Experience
  • Hands on experience with equipment such as Haas VF Vertical Mills, Haas EC Horizontal Mills, Datron machines, or similar CNC platforms
  • Solid understanding of machine tools and fixturing
Working Environment
This position is based in a fabrication shop environment and includes:
  • Standing and walking on concrete floors for portions of the shift
  • Lifting and carrying materials up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Working near rotating spindles and machining equipment
  • Required use of safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection as needed
  • Occasional forklift operation
Why Elma?
At Elma Electronic Inc., we value skilled trades professionals and the expertise they bring to our manufacturing operations. We offer:
  • A stable, team driven manufacturing environment
  • Modern CNC machining equipment
  • Opportunities to apply your craftsmanship to meaningful, precision engineered work
  • A culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement
