Role Overview:

The mission of this position is to reinforce and advance RTM’s excellence in the building technology systems field through effective client consultation, design direction and execution, and industry-facing engagement. This is a primarily client- and project-facing position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide structured cabling, wireless communications, audiovisual, and electronic security systems consulting to project stakeholders, including general advisement commensurate with an industry expert, development of design standards for stakeholders, and similar general consulting activities
  • Conduct user needs analysis and application of pertinent design standards, including facilitating presentations to stakeholders
  • Develop and execute complete design of structured cabling, wireless communications, audiovisual, and electronic security systems
  • Coordinate with in-house and third-party mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineers and other design professionals
  • Support and administer design through construction contract administration (CCA) activities
  • Lead and mentor less experienced technology designers
  • Lead and collaborate in design process, workflow, and production asset improvement
  • Engage in project management for technology-only project scopes
  • Engage in other senior-level activities, such as collaborating with general business development activities, participating as an SME with professional societies, and similar

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in designing and consulting on building technology systems from a variety of clients spanning a variety of vertical markets
  • College Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred
  • Professional / Industry Certifications – RCDD and CTS required; PE registration or other BICSI, AVIXA, or ASIS certifications recommended
  • Preferred Manufacturer Certifications (Crestron, AMX, QSC, Biamp, Extron, etc.)
  • Demonstrates expert or subject-matter-expert (SME) level knowledge of design of structured cabling, wireless communications, audiovisual, and electronic security systems
  • Demonstrates expert or subject-matter-expert (SME) level knowledge of construction means and methods relating to structured cabling, wireless communications, audiovisual, and electronic security systems, including sequencing,
  • Expertise working with clients to consult on systems options and recommend systems solutions
  • Expertise in working with multi-discipline design teams to develop design documents
  • Expertise in managing workflow and deliverables for multiple projects to meet the demands of ongoing schedules
  • Experience with mentoring other technology designers
  • Experience working in multi-discipline, in-house teams
  • Experience in systems field troubleshooting

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $120,000.00 USD
