Environmental Asbestos Technician - St. Louis, Missouri

What are we looking for?

The Environmental Asbestos Technician I is responsible for supporting the Environmental department in all services including asbestos surveys, asbestos third party monitoring, lead-based paint survey and more. This person will complete fieldwork as well as work on technical reports. This position will require some overnight regional travel.

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM (may vary)

What you'll do:

  • Perform field sampling of asbestos and other indoor air quality media as part of site assessment and remediation activities on projects as directed by senior team members.
  • Assist in the development of work scope, report preparation, client and subcontractor coordination, and assessment of proper response actions
  • Maintain Training Records / Field Instrumentation / Certifications (will provide training updates)
  • Participate in all QA/QC programs as appropriate and Safety Programs
  • Ability to communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving and on schedule
  • Operates testing equipment and conducts testing and provides assessment of data through reporting

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • BS in Environmental Science or 5 years experience in the asbestos consulting or abatement industry
  • Some experience in asbestos, lead-based paint, and/or mold inspecting, sampling, assessment, etc. 
  • Current or expired Asbestos Inspector License - State of Missouri or ability to apply for license within the first 30 days of employment (Intertek will pay for class/licensing)
  • Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Must be computer literate and able to operate most field/office equipment relating to one's discipline
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift, move, push, and pull items with weights in excess of 30 pounds multiple times as needed to complete project requirements
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record, 15% travel
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime and willing to work out of town occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • NIOSH 582 completed training
