Theย Quality Control Inspectorย IIย independently inspects aerospace hardware and exercises judgment to accept or reject product in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Inspectors are authorized to perform inspections only within the inspection environments for which they are certified.ย Tasks and responsibilities expected for this role include those captured by lower role specific levels.ย
This role involves working closely with engineers,ย production technicians, and operations teams to supportย multiple programs and value streams.ย
Keyย Responsibilities:ย ย
- Independently inspect production hardware within assigned qualification areas, including:ย
- Avionics:ย Complex wire harnesses, continuity verification, PCBA inspection per IPC standardsย
- Mechanical / Structures:ย Precision machined components, composite structures, and additive partsย
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and basic GD&Tย
- Perform in-process and final inspectionsย
- Initiate and document nonconformances (NCRs)ย
- Communicate inspection results to production and quality teamsย
- Support first article inspectionsย andย process/procedure feasibility studiesย under guidanceย
- Maintain accurate inspection records and traceabilityย
Responsibilitiesย (Level I):ย
- Perform visual and basic dimensional inspections on production hardware within assigned qualification areas, including:ย
- Avionics: Wire harness assemblies, connectors, routing, labeling, and PCBA visual workmanship.ย Familiar with WHMA cable inspection, use of electrical and microscope test equipment.ย
- Mechanical / Structures: Machined metallic parts, composite components, and additively manufactured parts.ย Familiar with GD&T principles and ASMEY 14.5ย
- Fulfills inspection plan criteria and assists with QI buyoffs in Working Instructions.ย
- Use basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical aids)ย
- Accurately document inspection results and observationsย
- Identify and report potential nonconformancesย
- Maintain FOD, cleanliness, and safety standardsย
- Comply with AS9100 and internal quality system requirementsย
Qualifications:ย ย
- 2-4 years aerospace or high-reliability inspection experienceย
- Proficiency in print reading and basic GD&Tย
- Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards (for avionics) and dimensional inspection methods (for mechanical)ย
- Demonstrated ability to work independentlyย
