Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab RN with cardiac cath lab and EP experience for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment requiring an active IL license.

Details
  • Work in the Cath Lab, including diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, EP lab, hybrid OR, and pre/post procedure care
  • Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours (0700-1730)
  • Patient ratios of 1:2 on days and 1:1 for nights and weekends
  • Required to work every third weekend
  • On-call required one night per week and every third weekend
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Cerner EMR used for charting
  • Open to block scheduling accommodations
Requirements
  • Active Illinois RN license required and in hand at time of application
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of cardiac cath lab experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab, pre/post procedure care required
  • Proficiency required in procedures such as diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, PCI, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, valvuloplasty, and ventricular assist device insertion
  • Experience with vascular procedures including angioplasty, carotid stenting, and endovascular interventions required
  • Experience administering and monitoring antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, reversal agents, and thrombolytics required
  • Skilled in IV therapy including starting IVs and assisting with central line insertion/management
  • Proficient in 12-lead EKG, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, dysrhythmia management, and vascular closure systems
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • First-time travelers considered only with significant cath lab experience
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab, EP lab, and hybrid OR settings
  • Perform circulate and scrub roles for cath lab and EP procedures
  • Monitor patients using procedural sedation, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, and ventilator management protocols
  • Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
  • Scrubs provided for this role
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 non-holiday days
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • First-day orientation is virtual and completed from home, with required modules due by 4:00 PM CST
