CT/Rad Tech Dual Modality<. >

·         About Facility:

o    Facility is a freestanding ED providing Emergency care

·         AH Kannapolis - 2711 Lane St, Kannapolis, NC

o    How many ED beds? 14

o    Facility offers DX, CT and US Imaging

o    Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

·         Department Information:

o    Average Scans per day:

·         DX – 40; CT – 35

·         Ultrasound - 10

o    Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year in specialty; highly prefer ED experience in a Trauma facility

o    Will you accept a first-time traveler? Dependent on experience

·         Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o    Emergency patients: MVC, Shortness of Breath, Falls, Injuries, DVT’s

·         Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

o    Dual Modality DX/CT Tech: BLS and ARRT (R)(CT)

o    US Tech: BLS and ARDMS

·         Skills required:

o    Comfortability working independently is a MUST

o    Dual Modality DX/CT Tech: Skilled in both DX and CT for Dual technologist requests

·         Proficiency in scanning Code Strokes

·         Common scans to be discussed during interview with manager

o    US Tech: Proficient in scanning General: adult and pediatric patients; Vascular: venous and arterial; Small Parts: thyroid, testicles, soft tissue; Peds: pylorus, intussusception, appendix; OB - more Eary OB, but limited 2nd & 3rd trimester

·         Support within the Department:

o    Supervisor – M-F dayshift – on site between Harrisburg and Kannapolis FSEDs

o    No radiologist on site – scans read remotely (to include overnight)

o    Typically, 2-3 technologists within radiology are staffed during the same shift.

·         1st Shift: (1) US Tech, (2) Dual DX/CT techs

·         3rd shift: (1) 1 US Tech and (1) Dual DX/CT Tech

o    No Transport

·         Technology/Equipment:

    • EMR: EPIC
    • Phillips ISite/PACS
    • Tera Recon - 3D post processing
      • Department specific Equipment:
        • GE CT Scanner 16 slice scanner optima 540
        • Siemens Acuson Sequoia US machine
        • Shimadzu XR portable and Philips XR room 

·         Floating: If yes, where?

    • DX/CT Tech must take 2 days a month of call (3) 12 hr shifts for Harrisburg and Kannapolis FSEDs (20-25 min apart)
      • Details discussed during interview

·         Orientation (facility and unit):

o    3 days departmental

·         Scheduling:

o    Weekend rotation: dependent on requisition and discussed during interview

o    Call required: (3) 12h shifts per month – specifics discussed during interview

o    Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work holidays as scheduled

o    RTO: Manager approval

·         Other notes:

o    Scrub Color: Black
