Job description

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for a 3D Modeler/ Drafter for our Memphis, TN office. Under the supervision of the Modeling Manager, the Modeler will prepare models and fabrication drawings of tubular pole structures and related hardware using SolidWorks 3D CAD software. This individual will be working from verbal and written instructions, marked prints, sketches and engineering design calculations. They will be responsible for preparing bill of materials.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Acquire job skills and learn policies and procedures to complete routine tasks
  • Ability to follow oral or simple written instructions and procedures
  • Support the Value Stream Manager and Project Managers to improve:
    • On-time delivery
    • Quality of drawings
  • Prepare all models and fabrication drawings of tubular pole structures and related hardware using SolidWorks software
  • Discuss project requirements directly with people for whom the work is being done
  • Work with fabrication facilities to resolve any problems that may arise during fabrication
  • Perform other duties and accept responsibilities to ensure the overall success of the department
  • Prepare models and drawings on a computer system under minimum supervision, working from verbal and written instruction, marked prints, sketches and engineering design calculations
  • Learn customer requirements as shown on specifications and drawings
  • Communicate professionally to customers and plant operations
  • Work independently as a problem solver

What Youโ€™ll Need:

  • Associateโ€™s degree or equivalent work and/or experience
  • Basic knowledge of 3D parametric modeling software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or other 3-D software used in creating detailed models of mechanical components and assemblies)
  • Basic understanding of drafting standards (dimensioning, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas both verbal and written
  • Ability to pass Meyer SolidWorks test
    • CSWA preferred
  • Proficiency in producing models/drawings for anchor bolts, pre-engineered poles and simple engineered poles
  • Basic understanding of fabrication practices
  • Basic understanding of customer requirements shown on specifications and drawings related to modeling
