Job description

Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks part-time seasonal Boys' Lacrosse Assistant Varsity Coach, at the Washington, D.C. campus. The spring 2025 season runs from mid-February through May. Leading with Sidwell Friends School (SFS) values, the Boys' Lacrosse Coaches report to the Head Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach and Athletics Director and are responsible for assisting with training and oversight of middle-school and high-school aged student athletes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Represent Sidwell Friends School and the Lacrosse Program professionally in all aspects, including during training and competition. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Travel/drive the minibus with the team and assist with oversight and instruction of student athletes at practices and games throughout the spring.
  • Promote and create a positive team culture, develop fundamentals and skills of the game, organize and enthusiastically run practices, and implement effective game strategies.
  • Abide by Sidwell Friends School (SFS), and District of Columbia State Athletic Association rules (DCSAA) and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of and experience with boys lacrosse at the youth and high school levels, including, rules, best coaching practices, and game management.
  2. Willingness to work with student-athletes at all stages of development.
  3. Availability to coach team practices and games between 4-7pm on Monday - Friday (JV) and/or between 1:30-4pm on Monday - Thursday (MS). One candidate can be contracted for both the Assistant Middle School Coach and the JV Head Coach.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, other coaches, parents, and students.
  5. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will complete and clear a background and fingerprint screening before the first day of work. Upon hire, they will obtain CPR Certification, First Aid training, Bus training, and other requirements immediately, upon hire

Compensation
  • Stipend $2,675.00-$3,852.00. Stipend will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
