Job description

Friends Select Aquatics (FSA): Assistant Swim Coach
Friends Select Aquatics is a USA Swimming club that competes year-round in the Middle Atlantic LSC. FSA has approximately 110 swimmers and continues to grow each year. We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated assistant coaches to join our Age Group and Senior Programs, working with swimmers ages 6-18. Ideal candidates look to grow within the world of competitive swimming. This is a part-time position typically with evening hours, Monday-Friday 4:15p-7:30p, weekends from 7:00a-2:00p and may require travel for meets. Specific hours may vary based on group and coach availability and schedule. Qualified candidates should be capable of working at least 2 evenings per week and/or weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop quality swimmers through the established curriculum focused on fundamental stroke technique
  • Assess the needs of each swimmer and provide appropriate support and guidance
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with other coaches
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with the curriculum
  • Recommend practice level placement and changes for all swimmers
  • Attend weekend meets as required
  • Be willing to acquire and maintain USA Swimming and ASCA certifications within 60 days of Hire
Desired Qualifications:
  • High School/College Degree (preferred)
  • Passion for coaching and developing swimmers at a competitive level, with patience and the ability to give clear, constructive instruction
  • Strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills
  • Expertise with current technique development and training methodologies, and competitive swimming (+2 years preferred)
  • Previous coaching experience and familiarity with Team Unify /Hy-Tek Meet/Team Manager skills (a plus)
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety, and Safe Sport (or the ability to obtain upon hire)
  • ASCA Level 1 certified or above (preferred)
  • Team oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual
  • Willingness to complete various online trainings, as required by the school
