Unit Manager – Registered Nurse (RN)

Full-Time | Sumter Health & Rehabilitation | York, AL

Sumter Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to join our nursing leadership team.

As an RN Unit Manager, you'll oversee the daily clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit while working closely with the Director of Nursing, physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team to ensure residents receive exceptional, compassionate care.

RN Unit Manager Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff on an assigned unit.
  • Coordinate daily clinical operations and resident care.
  • Assess residents and monitor changes in clinical condition.
  • Conduct routine resident rounds and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Review physician orders and ensure medications, treatments, and nursing interventions are implemented accurately.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized resident care.
  • Ensure timely and accurate nursing documentation.
  • Participate in resident care planning and clinical meetings.
  • Promote infection prevention, resident safety, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with facility policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Support survey readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Coach and develop Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.
Qualifications
  • Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Previous nursing leadership, supervisory, Charge Nurse, or Unit Manager experience preferred.
  • Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, post-acute care, or geriatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a nursing team.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and committed to exceptional resident care.
