Freight Specialist

As a member of the ShipBob team, you will grow with an ownership mindset. You'll take on real problems, create tangible solutions, and drive results that move the needle for ShipBob, our merchants, and for your own professional growth. If you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career, this is the place.

Collaborate with peers and leaders alike. At ShipBob, leaders are accessible; feedback flows in both directions, and everyone, regardless of their seniority or role, steps up to help when needed. We hold each other to high standards because we trust each other to meet them. That combination of transparency and mutual respect is what makes the work here feel worth doing.

Experience a high-performance culture and clear purpose. We are results-driven and clear about what that means: our goals are specific, accountability is shared, and every team member can see how their work connects to our mission. When we hit milestones, we celebrate them together. When we fall short, we learn and move forward.

Location: Remote in India

Shift Timings: 5:30 PM IST to 2:30 AM IST, with a flexibility of ±2 hours based on business requirements and U.S. Daylight Saving Time (DST).

The Freight Specialist is responsible for helping book less-than-truckload (LTL), partial, and full truckload (FTL) shipments across multiple business verticals that include but are not limited to: internal transfers within the ShipBob network, client customer orders, client inbound, and client B2B orders. In addition, the freight specialist is responsible for proactively solutioning any service disruptions and/or potential disruptions that result in failing to meet the agreed-upon customer service guarantee. The Freight Specialist will monitor carrier performance closely and make any necessary adjustments to our carrier portfolio due to noncompliance and/or repeated service failures. The Freight Specialist will also address any internal as well as merchant driven freight status inquiries and escalations. Potential for new role "advancement" within 2 to 3 years depending on business needs and growth. This role reports to Manager, Carrier.

What you'll do:

  • Work independently to identify, investigate, and proactively solve carrier service disruptions and/or potential disruptions that result in failing to meet the agreed upon customer service guarantees.
  • Help manage LTL and TL transportation spend by utilizing Shipbob tools and processes to identify the lowest cost carrier to meet shipment requirements.
  • Strengthen ShipBob Freight's key performance indicators with a focus on on-time pick and on-time delivery by closing monitoring carrier and facility performance and escalating instances of noncompliance
  • Responsible for reviewing open orders and optimizing load plans based on critical shipment attributes that include but are not limited to: pallet count, weight, origin, destination. Ship by date, and Deliver by Date
  • Book less-than-truckload (LTL), partial, and full truckload (FTL) shipments across multiple business verticals that include but are not limited to: internal transfers within the ShipBob network, client customer orders, client inbound, and client B2B orders
  • Monitor carrier performance closely and make any necessary adjustments to our carrier portfolio due to noncompliance and/or repeated service failures
  • Timely address freight inquiries and escalations submitted by both our internal client care teams as well as from the client directly
  • Work cross functionally in a fast paced environment between various departments, both internally and externally
  • Track missed delivery and pick-up appointments for both merchant and ShipBob managed freight and recover any rolled shipments
  • Maintain multiple reports specific to Freight team standard work.
  • Comply to all food safety and compliance policies and regulations.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Excellent multitasking ability as there are several platforms traversed daily.
  • Flexibility on schedule (may require some overtime / staying late due to tasks).
  • Solid analytical skills, with experience in reports, Excel, Google and following processes.
  • Experience with managing freight within a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as we are on multiple calls, emails and direct messaging with senior leadership and operations teams; it is very important to be clear and understood.
  • Teamwork and integrity: we want to make sure we work together and are transparent within our organization; if something is missed, it is called out and fixed in real time.
  • Reliability is critical to this role. This position is time intensive, and requires a dedicated person who can plan ahead and use time off wisely so workload is covered.

Perks & Benefits:
