Title: Import/Export Analyst

Location: Buffalo Grove

Hire Type: Direct Hire

Shift: 1st Shift

Compensation: $110-120k/yr


Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Import/Export Analyst to support domestic and international transportation operations. This position will manage freight rate requests, carrier comparisons, shipment tracking, freight claims, routing guides, expedited shipments, and domestic and international freight invoice auditing. The ideal candidate will have extensive transportation and logistics experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently manage complex processes and lead major initiatives across multiple sites. Experience with hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and IATA/DOT requirements is highly preferred.


Must Have Skill Set:

  • 9+ years of related transportation, logistics, or freight experience
  • Domestic and international freight management
  • Carrier rate quoting and comparison
  • Freight invoice auditing
  • Carrier routing guide management
  • Freight claims and issue resolution
  • Strong knowledge of transportation processes and carrier management

Job Duties:

  • Complete international and domestic freight rate quotes based on site management requests.
  • Prepare rate comparisons between carriers.
  • Track international shipments and, as needed, domestic shipments.
  • Provide proof of delivery for shipments.
  • Research and resolve freight-related issues.
  • Audit special-needs deliveries to identify issues and concerns.
  • File or assist with filing international and domestic freight claims.
  • Maintain and update the carrier routing guide.
  • Train site departments on the proper use of carrier routing guides.
  • Arrange expedited shipments to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate international truckload shipments.
  • Audit domestic and international inbound carrier freight invoices.
  • Resolve freight invoice issues with carriers and payment providers.
  • Identify opportunities for freight optimization and cost savings.
  • Lead transportation-related initiatives and process improvements across multiple sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 9 years of related transportation, logistics, freight, or supply chain experience.
  • Demonstrated expert-level functional, technical, and/or process management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge within a complex transportation or logistics function, or broad expertise across multiple related areas.
  • Ability to understand and manage the strategic impact of transportation functions across multiple sites.
  • Proven ability to lead major initiatives involving multiple sites and departments.
  • Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills when working with ambiguous procedures or policies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred: IATA and DOT certification for Dangerous Goods Cargo management.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of hazardous materials and dangerous goods transportation requirements.
