Job description

Overview

Salary Range: $59,200-$102,271

The US Regional Air Freight Process Standardization and Optimization Super User identifies processes that can greatly improve productivity, enabling employees to work more efficiently and support better results for customers, company performance, and system efficiency.  This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence by deploying standardized training for Cargo Wise shipments, operational process review, providing suggested operational and productivity improvements across the organization, thereby ensuring sustainable procedures that meet global as well as local objectives. This role trains operational staff, evaluates processes with regular Gemba walks, identifies gaps, and designs new ways of working to meet desired business performance and outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Roll out and train on standardized best practices and tools for continuous improvement utilizing Cargowise
  • Monitor KPIs to measure process performance and outcomes and standardize as per process developed in global training
  • Train, enforce, and help drive efficiency, accuracy, and accountability through Cargowise
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decisions using Cargowise  
  • Preparation of user documentation/training material (updating the future training center, making short instruction videos and procedure manuals, etc.).
  • Designing solutions related to country and customer specific scenarios.
  • Change Management Activities
    • Championing change initiatives
    • Assessment of impact on local operations
    • Training and advising users on process and Cargo Wise specific procedures
    • Defining solutions for local exceptions etc. not covered by Global Solutions
  • Conduct regular audit as per criteria set up by the Sr Operations manager. Assess potential quality problems, identify deviation from standard processes and room for improvement ("Kaizen").
  • Update standards operating procedures for quality and all associated documentation, as necessary to be aligned with regional counterparts
  • Travel to various Yusen offices for training and audit purposes and working in an office on a hybrid schedule.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain/International Logistics preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2-4 years of industry experience in freight forwarding Air Freight Operations, training, and Cargo Wise software.
  • 0-2 years of experience continuously improving business processes (e.g., Lean, process excellence, value stream mapping) and/or serving in a systems administrator or similar role.
  • Through understanding of INCOTERMS and transference of roles and responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence operational staff to meet standard process and KPI.
  • Strategies, process improvements and operational decisions.
  • Resourcefulness and ability to devise creative solutions to problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A sound understanding of end-to-end operations and business processes of Air freight forwarding, supporting departments needed and INCOTERMS usage.
  • Ability to plan, facilitate and conduct business process training programs on regular basis
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills while dealing with a variety of people.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to enforce change management when necessary.
  • Must have strong organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to multitask, organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrate self-initiative while also being comfortable in the role of a team player
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office required (including Outlook, and SharePoint).
  • Flexibility and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities is essential
  • Complex thinking, analysis, and decision-making skills.
