What is freight management?

Freight management refers to the process of overseeing and coordinating the transportation of goods from one location to another, typically across a supply chain. It involves tasks such as choosing carriers, negotiating shipping rates, tracking shipments, managing logistics paperwork, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Freight managers work to optimize routes, reduce shipping costs, and handle any issues that arise during the shipping process. Effective freight management is crucial for businesses to maintain smooth operations and meet customer expectations.
