Job description

Material Handler

A Material Handler is responsible for contributing to the Material Handling team's high-performance and engagement in safety and standard operating procedures. Maintains the warehouse operations including stocking, moving materials or stock, loading/unloading trucks, maintaining an organized warehouse and its storage system and/or production facility. Prepare materials for production use or shipping/receiving. Will provide coaching and regular feedback for continuous improvement.

Compensation: $19/hr DOE

Essential Functions:

  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other equipment. Loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • May perform special continuous improvement projects as needed.
  • Safe and Efficient Facility Team Member
  • Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use. Follow all procedures, policies and know the equipment before using it.
  • Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
  • Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
  • Work together with other team members to accomplish tasks safely in a fast-paced production environment.

Marginal Functions:

  • Housekeeping: sweeping and disposing of scrap or other miscellaneous items.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred

Required:

  • Previous warehouse or material handling experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to build a high performing team
  • Role model TransPak culture and operating procedures
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, deadline-driven, continuous improvement behaviors
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Forklift experience and able to maintain certifications on equipment such as forklift certification or pallet jack training, as required by site.

Desired:

  • Bilingual English-Spanish speaker
  • Open to work overtime, weekends and occasionally holidays
  • One (1) year inventory management experience
