International Logistics Specialist (Full Time)
This position assumes responsibility for the movement of merchandise and/or material in and out of the country in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Job Duties:
  • Assumes responsibility for upkeep of detailed records of international shipments for customs purposes.
  • Processes international documents for payment and records details of shipments for warehouse and store use.
  • Confirms bookings with vendors and freight forwarders for international shipments.
  • Keeps record of monthly ocean freight rates for comparison between freight providers.
  • Manages clearance procedure for international orders, which involves:
    • Releasing documentation to the freight forwarder for the broker for customs clearance.
    • Communicating with the customs broker regarding status of the order.
    • Tracking customer direct orders through the freight carrier for status updates.
    • Disseminating remaining documents to receiving personnel.
  • Communicates with international vendors regarding all steps of the order process, including documents, shipping status, pricing discrepancies, and customs compliance.
  • Maintains a spreadsheet for use by wholesale reps, purchasing amp; accounting departments and warehouse personnel, showing all open international order shipment details.
  • Maintains international shipment documents for alternate recordkeeping for USCBP.
  • Provides confirmation of payment to international vendors.
  • Works with vendors to obtain detailed information in regards to tariff issues and required customs declarations.
  • Prior experience with international logistics or customs brokerage firms helpful.
Qualifications for the position:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A); or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
