Job description

Meador an Openwork Company is currently seeking a dependable Dispatcher to join a growing safety equipment supplier in Houston, TX. This is a great opportunity for someone with warehouse experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and teamwork.

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform logistics functions that may include reviewing, preparing and routing shipments, coordinating drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules or customer requests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software

  • Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes and personnel

  • Knowledge of computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties Ability to multitask with different events happening at the same time

  • Ability to work under stress and remain calm

  • Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment

  • 2 5 years experience working with LTL Freight carriers

  • Familiarity operating a forklift, a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries and making the necessary adjustments for sales and customers

  • Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction

  • Ensuring the safe and timely pick-up and delivery of shipments

  • Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules

  • Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews or supervisors

  • Using telephones, two-way radios or outlook email to contact employees

  • Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment

  • Preparing daily work such as schedules

  • Preparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crews

  • Being in charge of communications within company assigned territories

  • Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position works primarily in a warehouse environment

  • Constant telephone activity; must have a high comfort level of initiating conversation

  • Moderate noise levels

  • Occupation requires being sedentary greater than or equal to 80% of the time

  • Work involves sitting, standing, hearing, talking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, walking, squatting or kneeling, bending

  • Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
