McKesson is seeking a highly analytical and data-driven Senior Transportation Business Analyst to support transportation cost optimization, carrier performance management, freight billing integrity, and reporting automation across our 3PL operations. This role serves as the analytical engine behind transportation strategy, transforming complex logistics data into actionable business insights that improve service, reduce costs, and strengthen client outcomes.
The successful candidate will partner with Operations, Finance, Client Services, and carrier partners to optimize transportation networks, analyze freight spend, improve carrier accountability, and drive data-informed business decisions. This position is ideal for a transportation, logistics, or supply chain professional with strong analytics, reporting, and business intelligence experience.
What You'll Do
Transportation Cost Optimization
  • Analyze shipment profiles to identify optimal transportation modes, service levels, and carrier selections.
  • Identify shipping inefficiencies, cost outliers, over-serviced shipments, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop recommendations that improve transportation cost efficiency while maintaining service standards.
Freight Audit & Billing Analytics
  • Reconcile carrier invoices against contracted rates, shipment data, and client billing records.
  • Investigate billing discrepancies, duplicate charges, accessorial fees, and revenue leakage opportunities.
  • Develop reporting and trend analysis on transportation spend, cost per shipment, and billing exceptions.
Carrier Performance Management
  • Design, maintain, and enhance carrier scorecards and transportation KPI reporting.
  • Monitor on-time delivery, tender acceptance, cost performance, claims, damage rates, and service recovery metrics.
  • Support carrier business reviews by providing actionable performance analytics.
Pricing & Transportation Modeling
  • Conduct transportation analysis supporting client pricing initiatives, RFPs, and network optimization activities.
  • Build transportation cost models, lane analyses, and scenario comparisons to support commercial decision-making.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support pricing strategies and cost-to-serve evaluations.
Business Intelligence & Reporting Automation
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, data models, and automated reporting solutions using Power BI and related analytics tools.
  • Replace manual reporting processes with scalable, automated solutions that improve visibility and decision making.
  • Identify opportunities to centralize transportation reporting and improve data governance.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Client Services, Quality, and transportation providers to address business challenges.
  • Support client reviews by translating complex transportation data into clear business recommendations.
  • Assist with transportation-related escalations through root-cause analysis and corrective action validation.

Basic Requirements
Minimum Education & Typical Experience or Equivalent Combination
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Analytics, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of experience in transportation analytics, logistics analytics, freight operations, supply chain analytics, or related business analysis roles.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • SQL experience for data extraction, validation, and analysis.
  • Experience with freight auditing, transportation billing reconciliation, carrier invoicing, or accessorial analysis.
  • Working knowledge of transportation modes including Parcel, LTL, FTL, and Dedicated Fleet.
  • Experience developing KPI reporting, performance scorecards, or operational analytics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to present insights to business stakeholders.

Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms (SAP or equivalent), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Knowledge of transportation network design, cost-to-serve modeling, and profitability analysis.
  • Experience supporting transportation RFPs, pricing analysis, or commercial analytics.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement experience.
  • Experience automating reporting and business intelligence solutions.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical, biologics, healthcare distribution, cold-chain, or temperature-sensitive logistics.
  • Experience working in a 3PL, transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain environment.

Travel & Work Environment
  • Hybrid work arrangement.
  • Preferred proximity to McKesson distribution centers in Louisville, Shepherdsville, Erlanger, or Mason.
  • Occasional travel to distribution centers, carrier locations, and business meetings as needed.
  • Ability to participate in on-site operational reviews and cross-functional business meetings.
