Title: Freezer Technicians (FTECH)

Location: Houston, TX

Responsible for service calls at customer locations to diagnose and repair reported Freezer / Bunker issues. Provide the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair Freezers / Bunkers at customer site. Assess whether equipment can be repaired or make recommendations for replacement.
  • Install freezers at new accounts.
  • Ensure that all service requests are completed in a timely manner and communicate with management daily to ensure that duties are complete.
  • Must be able to know and use the proper tools and equipment while performing duties.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate parts inventories and maintaining specified levels on hand.
  • Responsible for keeping Service Van clean and organized, inside and out.
  • Operate and manage company issued vehicle, tools, and equipment in accordance with company guidelines.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Work is performed 50-80% of time at customer locations handling service calls and 20-50% on the road driving vehicle.
  • Hazards: Driving a variety of 10-15-ton vehicles in all types of weather, slippery surfaces, lifting hazards, exposure to moving vehicles and equipment, traffic hazards, fall hazard from work on dock and tailgate, fumes, odors and some bouncing, jarring, vibration from truck operation.
  • Tools/Equipment Used: 10-15-ton truck, hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, carts, dollies, straps, lift gates, and pallets.
  • Safety Equipment: Seat belts, gloves, hearing and eye protection as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking: Constantly, while performing duties in retail customer locations; walking, up to 1-2 miles per shift on concrete or tiled surfaces.
  • Sitting: Occasionally (10%), while operating vehicle between customer locations, can be subject to heavy traffic.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently, using both hands and arms while moving materials via wheeled cart.
  • Climb: Able to climb a ladder when pulling wire for a freezer installation or building repair.
  • Bending/Twisting: Constantly, at waist while working on freezers / bunkers.
  • Kneeling/Crouching: Constantly, while installing new freezers / bunkers or repairing.
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of both hands/arms throughout work shift while forward reaching, handling, gripping, power grasping, and fingering and above shoulder reaching.
  • Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required to ensure safe operation of equipment and performing essential functions within the warehouse.
  • Lift/Carry: 50 to 75 lbs.
  • Grip: minimum of 45 lbs. with each hand.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent
  • 2 or more years of electrical experience, the actual physical work of installing, repairing, altering, removing or adding to an electrical installation
  • Mechanically able to perform a variety of duties in diagnosing troubleshooting and repairing ice cream bunkers, equipment, and components
  • Must have a Current Valid Class C driver's license with a minimum of 5 years driving experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work early morning/late night hours/rotating shifts as needed
  • Willing to work over 40 hours when required
  • Willing to work any day of the week, weekends, and Holidays, as required
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job duties and to safety regulations
  • No visible tattoos or piercings permitted while in the workplace
  • Smoke- and Vape-Free Workplace
  • Contingent upon the successful completion of a company-initiated and approved background check and motor vehicle report (MVR), drug screen, physical, and human performance evaluation (HPE)
